Graham Couch: Iowa Basketball is a mid-major roster

I get the feeling from most posters that it will be a major upset if Iowa beats us. Yet, it wouldn't surprise me if they are favored. I'm expecting a close game and we need to hit some shots and stay outta foul trouble.

I'm guessing it'll be close to a pick em

Their zone isn't good thankfully

Yup, but neither is our outside shooting %. We're gonna need to rotate the ball and do some inside-outside passes and hopefully get some dunks and lay ins. Jacobson will be a huge weapon for us to bust the zone because he can hit that 10-footer from the wing.
BTW; who do you think is best to cover Cook?

Shayok or THT on Cook. Sag off him and don't foul and he'll struggle all night

The one thing we are missing is the Naz and Thomas duo that is so deadly from outside that it stretches zones too much to play.

I'd be nervous with Shayok on Cook because he can pull some fouls and we need Shayok's offense. So in that scenario does that mean Jacobson guards Garza (assuming Lard doesn't start) ??

Who can shoot from the outside? Is Jarbo the only one? Run a box and one or triangle and two, and mess things up.

Their zone, when it's working, gives you a bunch of pretty open threes (if you're moving the ball reasonably well). You're playing into it if you take a bunch of them though. I really like the playmaking ability of the guys that we can put in the open spots of the zone, so I think we'll handle it fine.

Yup. ISU's ability to play the zone with interior passing vs. chucking up threes is going to tell you which way this game goes. This is not a great shooting ISU team as of yet. I expect Jacobsen to have a huge game and our guards to drive and kick the ball more than finishing at the hoop.
