Noah Fant Not in Iowa City

Not sure that it's a no brainer for a TE to skip a bowl game
If things don't change in the next 2 weeks it is. He will test off the charts and those NFL guys can't resist that crap. Not to mention that he's been productive to go with the measurables. Why go to a middle of the road bowl game to get thrown to 3 times?

I mean guys injury threat can't be high if he's not playing much

Fant has to be the most underutilized player in the country, his biggest role on their team is as a decoy for Hockensen. BF can't figure out how to use them both. Why Fant isn't lined up all day in the slot is beyond me. I guess its bc of their loaded WR group?

BF understands how to utilize both of them just fine and has done a pretty good job of it. Let’s just say that if it was up to BF, Fant would be on the field a lot more than he has been the last few games.

So KF is not letting his son do what he wants?

He wouldn’t be a likely first round draft pick if he had gone somewhere else, so this is a pretty stupid comment on you right part.

You mean he wouldn't have been a first round draft pick had he gone to, say, Alabama, and caught touchdown passes in the National Title game as opposed to catching zero passes in no-nothing game against Northwestern?

Interesting!

Maybe it really is a Bo Williams thing. The very few times we gave Bo the ball he had big plays, but universally everyone said he couldn't learn the playbook. (I always thought situationally play him anyway, you know as a specialist.) Anyone who watches Iowa football at all have a comment on how Fant blocks.

I meant amongst the schools that were recruiting Fant. However, considering his status as a middling recruit and the fact that Iowa was the only school recruiting him as a TE, I think it is pretty safe to say that he never would have seen the field on offense for Alabama. So no, I don’t think he would have been a likely first round draft pick had he gone to Alabama.
