Noah Fant Not in Iowa City

I think he will skip the bowl game by his own choice. There's no benefit to going.

Maybe that's what the OP meant but, frankly, it's a no-brainer.

I agree. I don't think Fant is being punished for his brothers tweet but maybe that's were things started to go south with Kirk or his teamamtes?
So Kirk will sit one of his best weapons, on an already struggling offense, with a Qb who desperately needs help, just to stick it to the kid? I just can't believe that. Kirk is stubborn, but I don't think he would cut off his nose to spite his face like that.

This goes back to my first post in this thread though. Why is everyone giving Fant a free pass? Kirk isn't Fran, he doesn't forget that his best player is on the bench... Just pure speculation on my part but there is way more to the story. In typical Iowa fashion, Kirk is going to keep it internal and nothing more will come out until the season is over.

Not sure that it's a no brainer for a TE to skip a bowl game

He just pulled a Fran and threw him under the bus by calling him a "specialist"

IMO this is why nepotism is a problem, he can't admit Brian ****** up.

Chatter I'm hearing is that Fant is a highly talented, but disinterested football player with an entitled attitude. Won't learn the playbook, has to be told where to line up when he's in the game and has caused multiple problems on the field on gameday. Sounds like KF may be fed up.

This sounds about right

I've only watched them a couple of times but it seems like if he's not wide open with a bunch of grass in front of him vs. leaky B1G defenses he doesn't do much else.

When I heard Ferentz say specialist I interpreted it as he is a good receiver but less than stellar at pass protection and run blocking. He was contrasting him to his other TE that is doing both of those things and still making big catches in the passing game. I guess I don't see the issue. If a guy can't do what you need and another guy can the guy who is doing it all is going to get snaps and the other guy is going to get the scraps.

Kudos to Kirk for not going all Fran on the reporters who are asking him about it.

It's not a play in game!

If Fant is ready to leave, there’s a team in northern Wisconsin that could use an effective “specialist” tight end that doesn’t get overpaid like crazy. And he’ll get in line there since he’ll play for a real QB there.

Sounds a little bit like Cordarrelle Patterson. Supremely gifted, but you have no idea what route he’s going to run.
