All Iowa Football Team---Post Bowl Edition

He's not quite there yet. Lots of physical tools though

Like I said after last week, he needs more games like vs Indiana and less meh games like Maryland.

For me the question is if he can become all Jekyll and no Hyde; there are probably 10 other QBs in this same boat.

I was talking about Brandon Smith. He's a pretty good talent but if you're talking about Stanley, yea, he's got a lot of physical tools too but Saturday wasn't really conductive to throwing the football with those wind gusts. My dad was at the game and said it was the windiest he's ever been at Kinnick and I'm guessing he's 50+ games there in his lifetime. I guess the way the defense was playing, they didn't need to do a whole lot but watching the replay, that early interception was a head scratcher.

Yes my bad. I think it’s less about his seemingly one per game head scratcher, but more of putting consistent performance game to game. He was on that path until yesterday. No doubt the wind had a large role in his performance, but yesterday didn’t help his consistency reputation.

He was 11/22 for 86 yards. Not great numbers and I don't think he attempted much in the way of a long pass. He did make a nice throw to Smith on that TD before halftime. I'm not sure what the breakdown was but I do know that Maryland only had 39 plays from scrimmage, 115 total yards and Iowa's time of possession was over 40 minutes (they ran the ball 52 times!). Sounds like the wind was a major factor though.

11/22 when you're not throwing the ball down the field is really bad no matter the conditions

The wind even affected the shotgun snaps and short passes. Stanley threw a sideways WR screen pass and you could see the ball move a couple of yards sideways in the wind. It was crazy.

Some interesting rushing numbers across the country

Karan Higdon - 831 yards and 6 TD's
Eno Benjamin - 753 yards and 7 TD's
David Montgomery (only 6 games) - 523 yards and 4 TD's

Toren Young - 403 yards and 2 TD's

Hadn't realized Montgomery was averaging less YPC than Toren Young this year. Wow.

Stanley is absolute garbage. I can't believe some people think he is NFL material. They do realize he will be forced to throw to more than just two tight ends at the next level, right?

LOL at Iowa State fans evaluating NFL talent. You wouldn't recognize NFL talent considering you only have two active players in the NFL and play in a conference that puts in fewer NFL players than all of the P5 as well as the MAC conference.

Well that's just not true

We put in fewer NFL players than all of the P5? I would sure hope so. Seems a little unfair 50+ teams vs 10 teams.

LOL at you. Somehow you watch college football you are somehow an NFL talent scout. That makes as much sense as me saying I watch my 12u's major team play year round so I should be telling Theo Epstein what players should be on the big roster.

I must confess you couldn't have selected a better user name:
The gorilla has a vocabulary of more than a thousand signs, understands about 2,000 words of spoken English, and initiates most conversations with people, according to the foundation's website. Her IQ is between 70 and 95 on a human scale—100 is considered a "normal" human IQ.

LOL at trying to say people don't know NFL talent because their school doesn't put many players in the league.
Kind of like saying Mike Leach probably doesn't know how to coach college football because he's a lawyer.

In fairness, in your case, you don't know much about anything.
