Problem or advantage with pro job is, you don't have to recruit. Advantage that you can keep your studs for awhile. Problem is management may not let draft or acquire the players you want.
It was cursed in the 80's.....Mac was able to stay for what? 10 years....Rhoads for 7? (just spit balling...didn't look it up)

True. FWIW I'm much more worried about the NFL than another college job unless it's a Ohio State/ND/Michigan/Penn State gig
Historically bad isn't necessarily because ISU is cursed. Hey there is hope though, even KState, Kansas and Baylor crawled out from under that rock for at least a few years. It's bound to be ISU's time at some point, maybe that is now?
I'm thinking the NFL will wait till he's accomplished what he wants to accomplish at the college level. Honestly, other than no recruiting and big $$$ (admittedly big incentives) I don't know what the lure of the NFL is....
Cut throat...short tenures....personally I'd stay in college. Money is good enough and you can survive bad seasons....at least at a ISU or Iowa for that matter.
The front office gigs after coaching can be quite attractive. Big money with basically a 9-5 job, outside of game days.
