Ferentz's Emphasis on the ISU Game

I think CMC's offense has proven that it is no different in its 4th week than it was in week 1.

I agree so far, but like I said the defenses they will face will mostly be a joke the rest of the year. With the way the Offense has looked, I'm not sure why ISU fans feel like the 1st game was a gimme either.

Vs everyone really. Iowa's 2 backup RB's have 93 carries for 419 yards (4.5 average). That is more yards and a higher YPC than Montgomery (334 yards, 4.1 YPC).

ISU's backups have 23 carries for 57 yards (2.5 average).

You said they "didn't skip a beat" in the two games your starter was out. One was ISU where they only averaged 2.9 ypc so I would consider that bad. Not sure how you think that was good. Who was the other team where they "didn't skip a beat"?

Overall we haven't skipped a beat when our backups come in. 93 carries, 417 years for a 4.5 YPC average. Just our backup's number are better than what Montgomery is doing.

Listen, you need depth to win at the P5 level. You aren't going to get through season without losing players in certain games. I feel like ISU has upped the talent of it's starters, but I'm seeing ISU really lacks quality depth. If you can't go 2 deep at RB, you don't really have a good group of RB's.

That's not what you said, you said in the two games your starter was out you didn't skip a beat. What two games were those? ISU and who else?

I corrected it, the Iowa backup RB's have been great all year. Iowa hasn't skipped a beat with them in there all year long.

Well your second toughest opponent you've played all year was a handicapped team from a league where no defense is played so is that really saying much?

Yep they're all developing the players and focusing on maxing out the team in July
You'd think that with one of the most talented OLines CMC has ever coached (per @1976 /possibly you?), 40 staff members maximizing their talent, and the best running back in the country, they would have produced better results than this by now.

That is saying a lot. When you are getting that kind of production from your backups, that is a good thing.

You really think you would have beaten Oklahoma or TCU had that game not been cancelled? Bold.

If the first game isn't cancelled we have 3 wins vs SDSU, Iowa and Akron. Still think we lose to Oklahoma because they have Kyler Murray and TCU because their defense is the best we'll see all season long

Still not sure why ISU fans feel they would have easily beaten SDSU.

You think ISU would have lost to SDSU? They stopped them and then scored on them on their first possession. It was pretty obvious SDSU was outclassed after just 5 minutes for those in attendance. The speed and size gap was pretty obvious

With the way ISU has looked this far, I would think it would be a fairly close game. No way would it be a guaranteed win.
