Iowa Football Recruiting

I heard the CW - Chryst talk. I don't think he said Chryst was horrible, but said he didn't think Chryst was a very good coach. He also said based on what Alvarez has established he thought a lot of coaches could go to UW and go 9-3 or 8-4. Might be a better take if Chryst hadn't won 10, 11 and 13 games.

Based on what Alvarez built and being the only FBS team in a fairly high population state suggests it's a pretty good job, and Chryst wasn't much at Pitt and Gary Anderson has been a failure since doing pretty well at UW. KF would have to go 14-0 for the next 25-30 years to average the wins/season that Chryst has at UW.

Not sure how good Chryst is and Big10 west has been hot garbage during his tenure at UW, but you don't fall ass backwards into four straight 10+ win seasons in a power conference.

Why would Allen put in a crystal ball if that's not true?

I don’t know, that is strange- particularly since two Iowa guys + Wiltfong put in CBs for Iowa shortly after Trieu. I don’t know where Trieu is getting his information, but I can assure you that Volk is most certainly not an Iowa State lean.

How do you know which way Volk leans? Also Trieu changed his CB today from Iowa to Iowa State so that is the most recent one

No idea where Volk will go. He’s listed at 50% on the rivals board for Iowa but he’s a 2020 kid and probably a ways off from making a decision. Thought Gunnersen was an ISU lean but that’s up in the air too. We’ll see how it shakes out when it comes to Iowa/ISU’s top targets and targeted needs. I’m assuming ISU is going to continue to make OL/DL a priority.

Gunnerson is still an ISU lean based off what I'm hearing but he's still going to go through the recruiting process and look at all his options

What did you think of Chris Williams saying that he thought Iowa had a bigger upward trajectory than Wisconsin on Hawk Central yesterday?
He's just trying to make his friends feel better. Chris is great at all things Iowa State, sometimes he lets those crazy hok fans make him think they are better than they are. The team and program is pretty much trash right now.

That "trash" team dominated you holding your offense to under 200 total yards and 3 points. OUCH!

Congrats on your Superbowl win.
1. The hoks had a HUGE advantage because we hadn't played a game yet and had to work some things out on the offensive line.
2. The hoks spent all off season preparing for the game against Iowa State. Maybe you should've spent more time prepping for Wisconsin. You will NEVER be at their level, so KF focuses on trying to beat us while he still has a chance. Soon that will be gone too and he will have to focus on Rutgers or some other garbage program.
Hope they hire that douche bag Brian as the head coach. The program will really take a nose dive quickly.

Said any coach could do what he has done at Wisconsin and that he sucks.

You sure it wasn't Jon Miller who said this stuff?

Also, are you guys trying to even hint that Chryst is a terrible coach? Has he ever lost to Iowa? Not a smart argument for hawk fans.

It was Chris Williams going after Chryst, not any Hawk fans. I think he is a very good coach, and so did all the Hawk media on the show.

Unfortunately we lost our Super Bowl this year.

The Hawks spent the offseason preparing for Wisconsin, and it didn't pay off unfortunately. It didn't take much to prepare for ISU. Stop Montgomery and you stop the ISU offense.

The funny thing looking back, the Iowa vs Wisconsin game and the Iowa vs ISU game played out exactly the same really. ISU spends all offseason preparing for Iowa, hangs with them for 3 quarters, but then Iowa pulls away in winning time (4th Quarter). Iowa spends all offseason preparing for Wisconsin, hangs with them for 3 quarters, but then Wisconsin pulls away in winning time (4th Quarter). Pretty ironic really that both ISU and Iowa lost the games they spent all offseason preparing for in nearly identical manners.
