Long time lurker, first time poster. I had to say something due to this incident.

I get into work today and a guy that is a kool-aid drinking Hawk fan starts giving me crap about how ISU was "smoked" during the weekend game. I retort with "In all honesty, both sides looked pretty bad." He starts going on about how I'm just making excuses for the loss... oddly enough, I really wasn't sounding like a Hawkeye fan, but someone who was trying to be objective.

I was going to say something, when he starts saying that their defense is going to take them to the national championship. Next thing I know is the rest of the Chokeye fans start getting all excited thinking they're going to the championship game.

Delusional fanbase!!!!

At least ISU fans know where we stand in the grand scheme of things. One thing i've come to terms with is there are no humble Iowa fans.

Sorry, just needed to get that off my chest.

GO CLONES! :cute:

Even IF the Hawks were to go undefeated with their weak schedule they should probably turn down an invitiation to Miami to save themselves the embarassment...

You should write down his exact quote and keep it handy for when they finish 6-6 and get walloped by Northwestern by 3 TDs. Then take a picture of his face when you show it to him and post it here.

With all due respect:

One fan does not equal a fanbase.

True hawk fans (that have a head on their shoulders) would a agree that was a bad game by both teams. The hawks were just fortunate enough to come up with the victory. I, nor most of the fans I know, have no national championship aspirations.

Good luck this weekend.

Just a friendly note. When you go and post something like this, you really should say that this came from some guys in the neighborhood or guys you ran into at QT or something like that. When you mention that you work with folks like this, we all have to wonder if it's your job to slice up the pepperonis, put on just enough cheese, or put the pizzas into the oven. I would guess the latter as pukeye fans that dumb should not be allowed around hot ovens for their own protection. I-state fans usually don't have to resort to employment like this, but it must be the case if you work with pukeyes.

Iowa fans aren't lucky like ISU fans are. We don't get to see our team play in a National Championship game every year. So it's only natural that we'd be excited at the thought of it

;)

Glad you stopped by for some pointless smack talk Southern.

The big Ten won't get so much as a sniff of the National Championship game. Ohio State and Michigan proved what a joke that conference is this past weekend.

I work in insurance. The guy sits next to me and he's wearing all black & gold outfit today. Black suit, whit shirt and a hawkeye tie.

Funny thing too, he didn't go to U of I. Imagine that......

Oh!! you got me excited. I want them to get embarrassed now in a good bowl game!

personally, i'd like to see them get embarrased for every game for the rest of the season, but I know that wont happen... for some reason, I see the Squeakeye going about 8-4 and to a bowl game.

Just another reason for the retard fans to get excited.

I didn't get much smack talk at work at all. Most of the Hawk fans there don't speak to me, so that probably cut down. We had a lot more people wearing Iowa jerseys Sunday night than we had the week before.

One guy that I had been trading jabs with did take time to come up and say to me, "I think my TV might not have been working right. I kept waiting for this sound in the stadium, "Cyclone State," but I never heard it. Was it just my TV?"

I kind of had to give him that one. I appreciated the way he turned my own cute idea right back at me.

Gonna talk it, have to take it.

no. i want them to embarrass nebraska in whatever toilet bowl they both get to. (i know southern you dont have to say that we too will be lucky to get to a toilet bowl.) wait, that would mean i want nebraska to make a bowl game...ignore previous statement.

They were going on about how Iowa is just a MUCH better team than ISU. They were trying to get me to admit it. I said, "they were a better footall program on Saturday, but a team requires all its members to act like a team and not cover up felonies."

That shut them up pretty quickly.

He must have a court date if he's dressed like that.....

Sorry.... I stopped reading here... no such thing. It's like talking about Unicorns and gnomes... they only exist in stories.

I had about 4 different women all come in and tell me how their Hawks beat our *** once again. I asked them to name 3 current Hawkeye players and the coach. I didn't get one name or the coach and they said that they didn't see the point.

You guys must run into a lot different type of Hawk fan than I do because I have't heard one say anything about a NC game let alone anything over 9-3. Most Hawk fans I know said before the season 7-5 or 8-4 and most would still say that.

It is, however, possible that both teams might be pretty good this year but played a sloppy game in bad conditions. The score was pretty similar to 2004, I don't remember if it was aesthetically pleasing or nor, and both teams went on to bowl games and won.
