I beg to differ with this opinion. I don't for one second believe the Cards "rolled over." Milwaukee absolutely crushed them last night, put up 6 runs against them the night before and, other than Hader's brief meltdown in the first game, the bullpen has been lights out. The past two weeks MLB.com has awarded the Milwaukee bullpen "tops" in the major league. The Milwaukee of the past (I'm specifically looking at 2014) would likely have shriveled up at the end. Heck, last year they were unable to overcome key injuries (Jimmy Nelson's injury was the nail in the coffin) & came up short. This year is MUCH different (and Cubs fans should know that the Brewers have a lot of fight in them based upon head-2-head match-ups this year). The Crew could still lose 3 in a row to Detroit - but they have looked like a playoff club that is to be reckoned with. I know I am a Brewers fan - but MLB has been my favorite sport since I was in 8-9 years old (40+ years) - and the Brewers just flat out took it to the Cards, in the same way that past teams "with a mission and different mindset" do to their opponents when the postseason is on the line. The same can be said for the Rox over the past couple of weeks, too. They are simply BEATING teams (and looking fairly impressive doing it).

I wasnt able to watch any on the games, but getting swept at home when you're making a playoff off push is just as much on the Cardinals playing like crap as it is the Brewers being hot. I agree that the Cardinals didn't just lay down, but the Cardinals of old would of never been swept.
 
Cubs have to win 3 of their last 4 to win the division. Tigers might be the worst team in the league. They’ve lost 11 of their last 16 and have nothing to play for.

Only hope we have is a Brewers implosion for a game or two but with how tight everything is I don’t see that happening
 
Even if the Cubs win the division, I don't see how they'll get past Milwaukee in the NLDS. The Cubs are backing in/slumping while the Brewers are red-hot.

I'm still just hoping for some great starting pitching. Hendricks is rounding into form, playoff Lester is usually very good, Q pitched well while he was in last night and you hope Hamels experience pays off. With the Brewers you've got to be able to get to their starting pitching, which has little to no playoff experience.

Winning the division gives the Cubs much needed rest.

And I’d almost prefer we get wildcard instead of tie for division because playing 164 games isn’t appealing

While I dont disagree, sometimes playing teams with nothing left to play for in the last series of the season can be tough. The Tigers are going to come in with the "lets ruin the Brewers season" mentality as it the last thing they can hang their hats on for the season. Im not saying the Tigers will go in get 2 of 3 or even sweep, but they arent going to go down easy.

The Brewers should remember this fact quite well from 2003 when the Cubs and the Astros were duking it out for the Division. Brewers went down to Houston for the last series of the year, nearly 30 games under .500, and won on Friday and Saturday which allowed the Cubs to clinch the Division on Saturday.

This weekend is going to be fun and stressful. A one-game wild-card should scare the crap out of any of the 5 potential teams that will be playing in it. An NLDS matchup against any of those other 4 teams would scare me.

The ideal scenario for me is to sweep StL, LA win the division and go to Atl, have the Brewers lose to Colorado in the single game play in, then the Cubs play the Rox.

One can hope.

I like this, but can we have LA and Colorado tie for the West, play a tiebreaker game on Monday, then have the Rockies beat the Brewers on Tuesday?

Don't forget the Cubs still play another game vs the Pirates tonight. They need a win to be up a full game in the division.
