Per Jon Miller Iowa>Bucky

And you have still never answered mine. How can you say a team is ranked #26 or #32 or #40 in a top 25 ranking? It is a top #25. The only way you can know who is #26 is if all 65 voters re do their ballots and vote for 26 teams. Colorado may or may not end up as #26 then.

Jesus Christ... I can't watch this anymore...

"The AP Top 25 is determined by a simple points system based on how each voter ranks college football's best teams. A team receives 25 points for each first place vote, 24 for second place and so on through to the 25th team, which receives one point. The rankings are set by listing the teams' point totals from highest to lowest."

That is how it works. Colorado had enough people put them on their Top 25 ballot to land them at what is effectively #26 with 83 points.

Teams of interest in order by amount of AP votes:

4. Ohio State
6. Oklahoma
9. Penn State
12. West Virginia
14. Michigan
15. Wisconsin
18. Texas
21. Michigan State
25. Texas Tech
30. Oklahoma State
32. Iowa
37. TCU
43. Maryland

Colorado is the top team receiving votes not in the top 25. I don't care at all if you consider them ranked 26th or not but you have to admit the AP voters view them as the best team not in the top 25

Is there a trophy for this or something?

Just have never heard anyone claiming any team "receiving votes" having an actual numbered rating.

I mean if you can't look at the AP poll and consider the top team receiving votes not in the top 25 and say yep they're 26th I don't know what to tell ya

You can have your "receiving votes" and I'll take the five top 10 finishes. Deal?

Holy hell, this thread is pointless. Just bickering back and forth. Iowa posters and CyTwins over and over, beating the same damn drum.

You new here? ISR forums breaks down to three or four retread hawk trolls trying to convince Twins that he is wrong. If you added it up, these trolls are probably over 500k posts.

They need to add "receiving votes" somewhere to this.

It seems you are have having trouble with a simple concept as well. Colorado is not effectively #26, they are just a team who got votes on some AP voters top 25 lists. Individual voters votes are tallied, there can be no #26 ranked team when the voters only voted for a top 25. If they voted for a top 30, there can be no 31st rank team. If they voted for a top 50, there can be no 51st rank team.

Why do you people think the AP doesn't say that Colorado is #26, Boise St. is #27, etc? Well because that isn't the case, and they aren't dumb enough to push something that isn't true. Colorado and Iowa aren't #26 and #32 right now, they are just teams that got votes.

The only reason this is going on is because @CyTwins wants his troll. It is pretty simple there is a top 25, no more, no less, just a top 25.

At least tell me you understand this @BCClone as I'm beginning to lose faith in what an ISU education is getting some of you.

You are right the team with 31 points is clearly more highly regarded then the one with 83!

Somehow Keith Murphy came to the conclusion that Iowa State was 37th and Iowa was 41st in the preseason AP Poll. I, for one, am outraged about this. Who is he to decide who is ranked 37th in the country?

There are a lot of lazy thinkers out there. You can post all you want of people doing this, it doesn't mean there are right, because they aren't. Please tell me you understand that you can't say a team is ranked #37 and #41 when they only vote for a top 25, the votes would change massively and points would change massively if they voted for a top 50. Please tell me you understand this, I am losing faith in the an ISU education!!!
