In the last 5 games against the Pirates, the Cubs have scored 1 run in every game.

They’re also 2nd in MLB in games only scoring 1 or less run. It’s kinda shocking the Cubs are even in this position with this inconsistent offense.

Maybe they should go jump up and down and act like children in their party room. ******* lolligaggers.

These guys need the whip more than the carrot right now and Joe is the not a whip kind of guy.

The Cubs have regressed a bit against the NL Central this season, but that probably has much to do with the fact that the Central has been pretty dang good this year. However, even in 2015 when the Central was VERY good, the Cubs went 46-30 against. 2016 they went 50-25 and last year went 46-30.

This year they are looking at somewhere around 40 wins to 36 loses, give or take a few. The Cubs are still going to win this Division as they continue to do just enough to keep the Brewers at bay, but I am no where near confident they get out of an NLDS match-up against the winner of the Cardinals/Brewers at this point.

Not sure they hang on. Need to win 4 of last 6 and hope that the Brewers lose at least once.

Relax. The Cubs will clinch the division on Friday or Saturday.

The injustice in baseball is the totally unbalanced schedules everybody plays. If the Cubs were in the AL Central, they'd have 105 wins by now.

Agree. Cubs will get 2 of these last 3 against the Pirates, and Brewers will split the last 2 in St Louis, leaving the magic number at 2 come Friday.

Also, if the Cubs were in the NL West, they would be 6 games up and if the Cubs were in the NL East, they would 13 games up.

This is not the time of year to be playing mediocre baseball so I hope they just finish out strong starting tonight. Need to be firing on all cylinders right now because winning the division is sure better than playing a 1 game Wild Card playoff game where the other team will throw the kitchen sink at you to win that game. Schedule left:

Cubs: 3 at home against the Pirates, 3 at home against the Cardinals
Brewers: 2 on the road at Cardinals, 3 at home against the Tigers
Cardinals: 2 at home against the Brewers, 3 on the road against the Cubs
Colorado: 3 at home against the Phillies, 3 at home against the Nationals
Dodgers: 2 on the road at Diamondbacks, 3 on the road against the Giants

Reason I included the Rockies and Dodgers on that is the Rockies are .5 game out of the Wild Card and 1.5 back in the NL West. The Cardinals have the most to lose at this point because a Cubs sweep would likely knock them out of the Wild Card but on the flip side the Cubs can't mess around either as they need to win 4 of the next 6 to probably lock up the division and avoid the play in game.

The lack of a true leadoff hitter, I think, has killed us. You saw the spark Murphy provided when he first got here.

We have absolutely no one to set the table.

Hopefully when Harper gets here we can place Machado in the leadoff spot for Bryant and Rizzo to get him in if Harper doesn’t get the job done first

:)
