Who should we replace SDSU with?

Article said it would give that team an unfair advantage with SOS and their playoff calculation formula.

"...if any one of those FCS teams played us, they would change their strength of schedule and the calculation that gets used for FCS playoffs..."

So we can't change the formula for FCS but we certainly can change it for FBS power 5 team by not allowing us to have equal opportunity to win 6 games.

So...with hurricane Florence heading for the Carolinas this week, I see South Carolina has a home game scheduled. If that were to get rained out, they also have a convient open date on October 20th. Might be cool to setup a neutral site game with proceeds going to the hurricane relief if it is as bad as they are saying it could be.

So, NCAA, we can't mess with the formula or make an exemption that would slightly change the FCS level, because that would "be unfair," but it's totally fine to say to a FBS team "sorry, you're screwed" and mess up their formula for post-season eligibility?

Seems legit.

If we can get an FCS opponent for a make-up, that's cool. Beyond that, I'm not obsessed with scrambling for a 12th game vs. keeping the bye week. ISU has 10 scheduled games remaining. If the worry is reaching bowl eligibility, win 6 (or more) of those.

I think this conversation is going to escalate big time on October 14th. Just my opinion, but I think we are going to be 1-5. And before I get ripped for saying that...There is not a whole lot of teams that would be much better than 1-5 playing this schedule. that is just a fact.
@ iowa, Akron, OU, @TCU, @OSU and WVU.
Basically ISU having to win the last 5 (which I think is possible) to make a bowl.

I hope we can swing a few major upsets again.

I agree with all of this except having to win the last five games. I think 5 wins can get us a bowl due to the rain-out. But that's not certain which is why I agree that the "schedule a 12th game" talk escalates.

I agree it'd help to snag at least one unexpected win in the the next month. I don't want to rely on going 5-0 down the stretch, even if that's much less-daunting than the front-half.

(This somewhat contradicts my previous post).

Well the way I see it is the NCAA has no problem screwing over Iowa State, they have done that lots of times. But Nebraska is in the same situation, and you can be sure that if they need another game to become bowl eligible, the NCAA will find a way to make it happen.

I thought Akron and Nebraska have vowed to re-play their game on December 1?

Good point. The MCAA has always had it in for Iowa State.
