Don’t you want to shoot for higher aspirations than Clemmons?Hopefully Touissant can be an Anthony Clemmons type player. With his quickness he should be a pretty solid defender.

If you're saying that in year 9, when the conference is down, it's time to cut bait.In an ideal world, yes. This coaching staff hasn’t done a very good job recruiting though. Hopefully they can get a more dynamic PG next year in Tyler Beard.

Didn't see it posted, Fran has his 2019 PG.
@MatthewBain_ Iowa has its 2019 point guard: Three-star New York product Joe Toussaint (@jtoussaint_2). Quick story on a long-awaited PG commitment.

I think Iowa should be solid this year, so I’m not ready to cut bait yet. If they don’t land Foster and can’t bring in any other Top 100 talent, I would like to see Fran cut the assistants loose and bring in somebody that can recruit.
Solid like NCAA Tournament team?
When life gives you Clemmons, you make Clemmonade.Don’t you want to shoot for higher aspirations than Clemmons?
You better hope they win a TON of games because getting a good RPI with a bad SOS will be difficult.I think they can compete for an NCAA bid, yes.

IMO, an NIT home game would be a good result for this Iowa team.Lol what? You're joking right?

Being alright in a down power league won't get them in this year. They should have one of the most efficient offenses in the country. If they can even get to average defensively, they should be alright. I think they have enough guys that are capable of playing good defense (Cook, Moss, Dailey, possibly Wieskamp) that they should be improved on that end.

A lot of people probably pencil them somewhere in the 9-11 range in the B1G. They need to be 4th to feel safe.

Cook and Moss are awful defensively
Yes, they were both pretty bad last year, but they are both athletic enough to be solid defenders. Hopefully last season humbled them and they’re willing to work a bit harder this season. After going through the draft evaluation process, I think Cook will be much improved next year. Moss has quite possibly the lowest basketball IQ I’ve ever seen, so I suppose I’m less optimistic on him.
The jump from pretty bad to solid doesn’t happen by working a bit harder. At this point all you can hope is that they’re mediocre on defense.Yes, they were both pretty bad last year, but they are both athletic enough to be solid defenders.
