So when does he officially move to Tackle? Not that he's going to start next week, but we need depth now, and in the next couple years. Unfortunately the OL has not developed yet as we had hoped.

Anyone have updates on Bolton? I assume he's probably gone for good, but any hope?

We need all hands on deck up front for this offense to be decent.

The OL is the absolute hardest position to develop...CMC 2 years ago was left with an absolute cluster F@#$ AT OL...CLUSTER F@#@.

We are starting year 3 of CMC regime and across the board...RS SO....RS FROSH...JR...JR...JR. Backing them up are like True frosh..SO etc...

It takes time. We need to be doing running plays outside the tackle with speed (Kene) and mixing it up with some 2 back sets with the backs crossing if u know what i mean...

For the life of me i cant understand how we can keep trying to run the ball out of shotgun with a delayed zone/read..

It does look bad but lets keep 3 things in mind:
1. they didn't get the 1st game in as preparation.
2. The Iowa defensive line could be the best ISU faces all year.
3. The OL has to go up against the defensive line in practice every day so hopefully that helps them develop them.

I completely agree. Throw quick outside screens to Monty/Kene, toss sweeps, etc. Give them something where they can get a little bit of space and get going. It also doesn't help that we have a QB who is no threat to keep the ball on reads.

Unfortunately OU isnt the best opponent to get all these fixes worked out...

Thanks for posting this reminder. Year one really doesn't count when it comes to the OL and DL. We just got to remember the DL is ahead of schedule. And yes the play calling lacked imagination.

To answer the OP, I’ve got to go with two possible responses. Either A. Dylan doesn’t want to move to OT, or B. The coaching staff doesn’t want to move him to OT. From what O can see, either one is valid, so take your pick.

Yeah, when he signed, I thought he could make a great tackle, too. After a year or so, it became obvious that waxn’t going to happen. Since then, it’s clear that he’s taking great pains to get into even better shape, rather than outgrow TE.

Even if he moved to TE today, he wouldn’t be ready to play before next Fall. In the meantime, there are other players already developing and arriving who can make a difference, from Newell to Foster to Good-Jones to Ramos to Treiber.

This one’s quickly turning into either a forlorn hope, or just plain a dead horse. My advice? Just let it go.

Ehh, the OU defensive line is far from the Iowa defensive line. But you are correct...you have to call better plays that the offense can execute.

One of the main reasons he chose to sign with isu was because everyone else wanted him to play tackle and he didn't want to. So its probably not going to happen.

I thought somebody said Bolton was at Tennessee as a walk-on?

Another guy with the same name?
