If you can have a 5 yard dump off for your running backs, who will add a few yards afterwards, take it.

If your running back is consistently getting clogged up the middle after 5-6 runs, stop forcing your running back to run up the middle.

We have unreal running backs who's catches were key to that successful first drive. Why did we abandon that game plan and instead force them to run, time after time, into a D-Line that clearly wasn't going to let anything up the middle?

I get Montgomery is one of the best, if not the best, RB's in the country. However, he was put in a position to fail when he's asking to run it into four defenders and being forced to bounce out. Time after time after time.

What is it about preparing for Iowa every year that makes our offensive coaches think they can run it up the gut all game against Iowa’s perennial strength and not use the offensive mismatches? We’ve seen this same thing play out way too many times.

Agree. The key to beating Iowa is isolating their linebackers in space against athletes.

Trust the Process, establish the Run.

I like ISUCubswin.....I have never met him/her, but I visualize a third generation Downers Grover. I'm with you on this one though....I think our success on the first drive...where we did have a few scrums we won...might have led to a misjudgement of our abilities the next several quarters. By then, we had played into their hands. It was like the perfect game plan to lose to Brian Ferentz.

Not completely invalid points but since we have one of the best running backs in the country maybe our offensive line should maybe...umm..block for him. DM could make alot happen if they would give him just a little help.

Setting up QBs to fail too if you're needing to be in pick apart mode all day instead of just getting something reliable and easy and working from that.

That was Texas 2017 2.0 and worse.

whole game was offensive. Spent all spring and summer planning that dog turd game plan? If this is our offense we are totally screwed

Texas is exactly the game I was thinking of - Campbell wanted more Montgomery, Manning wanted more Park. Coaches couldn’t adjust and make a change of game plan.
