Prediction..... Iowa has never played a great ISU Defense until tomorrow

Have a funny feeling that they will shut down Iowa for the most part tomorrow. ISU defense grew by leaps and bounds last season. By the end of the year they were playing great. I expect them to be better this year with all the returning talent.

ISU may struggle at first getting the offense going but based on the first drive last week I'm not so sure that will happen. We have a quarterback that is as cool as a cucumber and doesn't make bad decisions. We have a running back being recognized from experts across the country. We have a chance tomorrow to show Iowa how an offense should look like.

I'm predicting ISU will win comfortably 34-13. The Iowa offense will have a few big plays to the TE but will otherwise have a lot of 3 and outs. ISU offense will be multi-dimensional and keep Iowa on their heals most of the day.

I will be in attendance tomorrow and can't wait to cheer on ISU when they open a big can of woop ass in Kinnick and have most Iowa fans leaving early in the 4th quarter. They will also be calling for Brian to be replaced ASAP....

You're going to be sitting in the stadium for quite awhile. ;)

There's been years when ISU's defense was pretty good. The offense has been bad on bad though. One advantage ISU had over teams was that the opponent probably couldn't tell what to prepare for since ISU was running something new and exciting every two weeks.

We also don't know what ISU's defense will really be like. Plenty of unknowns and it wasn't until October last year before ISU got things figured out.

We are only giving up 14 yards a game right now though. We are like a brick wall.

The thing I like, as Campbell often says, is we can go multiple. If they cannot run on our 3 man front it could be a long day for them. It will be interesting to see how much of our defense we have put in and how Stanley will react to different looks. My only worry is the lack of game reps could allow some defensive breakdowns especially for our safeties.

Are you talking about this Saturday, or 2005? I was going to say, that 2005 defense was pretty salty.

I think we have more quality depth and from October forward last year our defense played lights out. We'll see... but I think most Hawks will say after the game it's the best defense ISU has ever put on the field.

Why I love the size of bailey and Uwa. Heavy DEs so if in a pinch you can slide one down and throw a LB on a blitz to hold end.

That defense was out for blood. KO'd Drew Taint in the 1st round.

Technically he ko'd himself by leading with the crown of his helmet, but your point stands. By today' rules, he would have probably been dinged for targeting. It was instant karma for that pos.

That 2005 defense was really fun to watch. They didn't have the depth on the d-line we have this year, but there was some serious studs among the starters. What a wasted opportunity that season was.

Also held Brad Smith to like 80 yards of total offense before he got hurt and little ol' Chase Daniel came in and made ISU do ISU things.

I'm hoping the defense can put some pressure on Fat Stanley. Hate to see him have all day back in the pocket. Maybe bring the brass knuckles to the patella tendon a few times.
