That is pretty embarrassing, no matter how you spin it. Especially when you consider the way the athletic department pisses money away.
Did they ever sell the old AIB property? Hmm... seems the University is in a little over there head.
Over 80 MM that they haven't paid? And they have lost case after case but still defy it? If I did this, I think I'd probably be thrown in the clink.
Kinda funny how hawk trollers on here brag about how much money they bring in from the Big 10 contract but don't say a word about how the university is in debt.
I think their Wave to the hospital sure takes a different approach now!

Your premise here is a little misguided. You would require a buyer first.
Not sure if it is still the case but I know they have had a lot of billing issues that caused some insurance companies and I thought I was told medicare to stop paying them until they fixed it. This in turn caused a hiring freeze other than nursing and other critical positions. I also know of a pacemaker manufacturer that will no longer do business with them.

Probably would have to stuff a couple rolls of hundreds in his pockets to get anybody interested in taking him off their hands.
Not a good look for Iowa but I had to chuckle at the comments from the Republican member of the Iowa House. Like that group has any ground to stand on when it comes to discussing a responsible budget.
Am I interpreting this correctly- The U of I strategy is to enter into contracts, then not meet their financial obligations, and gamble that the injured party will just go away out of exasperation?
