Kinnick north end zone renovation

At least now they actually play in the swamp so they can do the Gator Chomp with pride.

Did they forget to add drains to the thing. They have had drainage problems before you would thing they were smart enough to have extra tile and drains. What a train wreck their grounds crew is.

Kinnick is fake turf anyway isn't it? I really don't know. If it is just bring in some vac trucks and suck it dry.

It's drained but the turf bubbled up. That can't be good for it:

That doesn't look real. Not saying it isn't .... but damn.
If you compare the first photo and the one you quoted, they are taken at different sides of the field and you can kind of see similarities between the two. I'm not sure how long the storm lasted, but there appears to be a 4 hour difference between the two photos (from when they were posted) - that seems like a long time for the field to be "bubbled" like that.

You're right. In the first photo, even where the water isn't sitting, you can see the bubbled up turf. WOW

Lol, you guys will argue anything.
I'm not really arguing anything here. My point is is you guys just put nearly a hundred million dollars in a renovation project. Personally I think the end zone looks pretty sweet but you couldn't put in some simple stormwater management infrastructure?

It's this field turf stuff. It has a base under it, then they lay down the turf. Next they spray it down with these little rubber bb's. Every so often you have to take a sidewalk sweeper to it to fluff up the bb's and then replace the areas it is light. You would fill up with the rubber bb's if you vac'd it up much.

Is that the same stuff we have in the Bergstrom facility? Saw that up close for the first time, early this summer. That surface feels really weird to walk on.

For the ones who are familiar with it, how does it compare to the turf in Jack Trice as a playing surface?
