Ferentz's Emphasis on the ISU Game

Vamdeberg had 384 yards last year. Smith-Marsette and Brandon Smith COMBINED for 202 yards last year.

To say your WR group will lose their second best player and add nobody of significance and still manage to go from the worst WR's in all of power conference football to solid and consistent is laughable

So using your logic, Iowa State’s OL will suck again this year- they add nobody of significance, after all. Apparently there is no possibility whatsoever that any of the returning players improve.

Our starting center is new and comparing CMC developing OL to KF and his history at the WR position is dumb even for you

Iowa has done just fine developing WRs with O’Keefe on staff. And if Iowa State’s starting center is considered “new” after redshirting last year, then Brandon Smith is “new” as well.

Also, what reputation does CMC have for developing OL? Does he have any OL in the NFL? Any all-conference OL recently?

You disagree? CJ Jones, Mo Brown, Ed Hinkel, Clinton Soloman, Keenan Davis, Marvin McNutt, DJK, Kevonte Martin-Manley...all were more than solid receivers for Iowa while KOK was on staff.

How long has KOK been on staff? That's a pretty short list of Arena League stars for how long I assume is tenure has been

He's raw.

Happens a lot with young, extremely tall offensive linemen.

Saying he is limited athletically is a tad premature.

Did you watch much of him?

Haven’t seen a ton of him while at Iowa State, but I know that is what Iowa’s staff evaluation was on him coming out of HS- very limited athletically, slow feet, and soft. Doesn’t mean he can’t be good for Iowa State eventually- Iowa needs quick and athletic linemen for their zone blocking scheme, so Foster wasn’t a good fit. Don’t really know enough about ISU’s scheme to know how he fits into it, but he certainly wasn’t impressive last year.

Iowa also passed on JGJ and Meeker so they make poor evaluations often

How do you know he wasn't impressive last year if you didn't watch ISU play?
