Tiger vs. Phil

The details on the Tiger vs. Phil match are coming out, and it looks like it will be a pay per view event. Jimmy Traina of SI had an interesting blurb about how closely other sports leagues will be watching this to see consumer's willingness to pay on a per event basis.

How much would you be willing to pay to watch this?

I do agree with Traina that it would be a dangerous game for this to go well financially for Turner. I don't think it would immediately lead to them shifting towards PPV or a pay-for streaming platform with most big events, but you could certain see them moving that way in the future.

I understand the draw of it being just Tiger and Phil.

I think the smack talk would be much more entertaining if there were 3 or 4 people playing, though. It would be a completely different event by doing that, however.

If they were going to build a golf pay per view that I'd consider, it would have to be something like a 36 hole Ryder cup type event, with 8 of the top golfers (maybe competing on teams?). Maybe:

Unless he changed after his time off. During his hot run, golfers who were paired with him routinely mentioned he would talk to his caddy and would totally ignore the other golfers.
