The Tournament

What 6 players showed up? I see how it would be challenging to get a roster lined up but once someone commits and doesn’t show they shouldn’t be asked again. Maybe it’s best the guys don’t compete in this tournament.

I think a better plan going forward is getting a group together that can actually practice together for a couple of weeks. It kind of seems like we just get good players that do their own thing.

I watched most of the game on mute, so I never heard any back stories of the other team. Have they played together for a long time or what? I didn't recognize any of their players

Announcers didn't do any stories. Best you got out of them is what years the player played. You or I could have done a better job. Mute was a good idea.

None of these teams play together. These guys are all doing their own thing in Europe, Asia, G league, etc. why don’t people just google this stuff or look on the tbt website instead of making whiny posts on cf?

Most of the players that can play at a high level yet are just starting their professional careers, which is kind of sad reminder how far the program fell for a long time, especially when you see multiple years of great players like scarlet and gray (OSU). Should be able to fill an elite team in 4-5 years though.

Wasn't trying to whine, more so just trying to see if anybody knew if some of these players had a history that would lead them to look so cohesive.

One guy starting 5/5 from 3 in the first 12 minutes of the game tends to make a team look “cohesive”.

Guess we didn't see the game from the same angle
We saw it live. It wasn't cohesion on the other team. It was about 80% Price, and about 20% fresh legs on a rotation of four big guys that pounded our guys. I doubt the tv coverage showed the action away from the basket...

Yeah I ended up rewatching the game tonight and Price was unreal, not sure there was much we could do to slow him down. Honestly, I thought we got a decent amount of good looks too (Donovan and Tyrus had quite a bit of room on most of their shots). Royce would probably tell you he could have played better, but he didn't get the benefit of the doubt when their big guy would body him up every time he took the ball in the lane.

Hello all,

This was a disappointing game, and turn out overall. Everyone always has the right to be upset and voice their opinions. We’re open to hearing them.

We could go into how difficult all facets of this process can be, the uncontrollable letdowns we experienced, but the truth is few care about more than the final product.

Our final product was not good this weekend. Nobody feels more of the emotions all of cyclONEnation has voiced to us than we do.

It never has been our goal to hype up fool’s gold. TBT is an incredibly unique and difficult tournament to succeed in. To the pessimistic fans, thank you for the encouragement. To the optimistic fans, thank you for the support.

Best,
HML Team

Good luck next yr. Thanks for showing back up after what was a pretty rough outing.

Thanks for making the effort. Ignore the naysayers. Of course, we are disappointed, but that is only because we all wanted the best. Hope it works out better for you next year.

We told the guys Saturday night that if they were back next year, we'd be there. Thank you for all the work you put in - it IS appreciated even if sometimes it doesn't sound like it!

It was hard to watch in person, but good to see former players. As I sat in the stands, I thought about each player and the memories they have created. Pretty special group and they represent ISU well.
