Graham Couch: Iowa Basketball is a mid-major roster

And keeps an uneducated basketball fan base happy. This will be another nice “we were top 6 with a 5 Star” banner in CHA.
There are too many reasons to list why a 5* player not related to the coach would never come to Iowa, but #1 is Fran is a hot headed horrible coach and #2 is the dumbest, most boring basketball fans in the country.

And don't forget that the only reason the players related to the coach are getting 5* rating is because they are related to the coach.

Iowa State fans praise CMC for offering 5* recruits, but when Fran does it he gets mocked. Interesting.

That’s what you’re going with? No defense of your coach or program? I don’t blame you but your passive aggressive basketball = football post tells me that there is at least some fire left in there.

Connor was a 3 star at Patrick might end up there too. They started out high because of their last name and then don't produce in camps or the AAU circuit and their ratings tumble

I suppose good for Iowa, but before Hawk fans get excited I wouldn;t be at all surprised if Suggs visits ISU again too.
Also a major part of recruiting is realizing is prioritizing slightly lower targets that are realistically going to commit and focusing the attention on those recruits rather than pursuing 5 stars only and if you miss ending up with 3 star mid major players. Prohm has shown an ability to do that, Fran hasn't.

Have no issues with Iowa paying his way so he can then take an unofficial to ISU. Thanks Fran.

Fran at least has a couple Top 50 finishes in the recruiting rankings....CMC, not so much.

Hey if you think Fran is a good recruiter I'll just smile and nod my head. I will ask what years he had those top 50 finishes though. Assuming one is with Cook

Just to back up my thoughts on Iowa as not a major player for Suggs I just came across an article from an non-Iowa Rival's reporter and thought it was relevant.

https://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/summer-jam-whose-gotta-have-em-

Jalen Suggs
Whose gotta have him? Minnesota

Why? Minnesota hasn't had the best success in keeping true blue chip hoops prospects home and there hasn't been another homegrown player that Richard Pitino hasn't had more time to show love to. He can play the one or the two, he's tough as nails and Gophers fans would go wild if he stayed home. At the very least, they can't let him leave for another Big Ten program.

The competition: Baylor, Iowa State, Pittsburgh, Xavier, Marquette, Georgia Tech, UCLA, UNLV, Wake Forest and more."

To be clear I don't think Jalen will end up at ISU or Iowa, just their media pumping up Fran's pursuit is going to end poorly. Especially when they aren't considered by a non-local media to be real enough to name as competition.
