Iowa -7 vs ISU

Are you asking how is a two way NBA contract different than an NFL camp tryout?

Ok, would it be more comparable to an NFL guy who makes the practice squad?

Im genuinely curious why ISU fans thinks its a huge deal to have a handful of guys on two way contracts.

I don't think there is an NFL comparison to a two way deal. Practice squad doesn't make sense because two way guys almost always get some NBA time

Dont NFL guys get moved off the practice squad to the active roster if there are injuries?

I see Eno Benjamin is on the Doak Walker watch list. It must suck being a hok fan and losing to stud running backs due to poor recruiting tactics.

They can, but it isn't wanted. That type of scenario only happens if it is warrented (injuries, suspension and low on a position group). 2-way contracts are more of a making it known to a player that you want them to get their chance to prove what they can do with your organization. The G league is taking strides to be the 2nd best league in the world, and it might almost be there, but it more allows for you to stay within an organization and learn the ins and outs and establish a relationship with a group.

You are given an amount of games that you can play in the NBA for a 2-way contract year, and every player from ISU that has gotten a 2 way contract has turned that into NBA minutes. 2 of which alreday have full-time contracts, and one more expected to. I think if you want to get into the league as an undrafted FA, a 2 way contract is a pretty solid step in the right direction.

Long story short there is nothing in the NFL right now that compares to a two way deal

Only if the players go on IR. If the starting QB tweeks something and they think its best if he doesn't play but could in an emergency, the practice squader does not move up. In the NBA, they just call the 2 way player up (can be on the roster for up to 45 days without any other player movement) and not do anything with the injured player.

So its more like a guy that bounces between AAA and the big leagues then.

Nope, they increased the squad size from 15 to 17. The two extra are 2 way contracts, can be rostered with the team for 45 days during game play. No player movement, no IR designations. Player tweaks an ankle and will be out for 2 games, you pull that guy up and have him there. They aren't there all the time, becasue they want them playing games and getting reps so they spend majority of the time in the G.

Edit: Best comparison is when the rosters increase the last chunk of the season in MLB (or is that just the playoffs?)

You dont think Eno will be good?

I have no idea. But he had 142 yards last season. Does that merit being put on a watch list for best RB in the country? Might as well put all the RBs from every team on that list. And I am not just talking about the Doak Walker. Look at the other lists. Mostly a joke.
