Graham Couch: Iowa Basketball is a mid-major roster

Do you honestly not know who Pat angerer is?
I know who he is. I was making a play on his last name and also implying that his opinion should be taken with a grain of salt (hence the attempt at humor with the movie Dumber and Dumberer - you know, Anger and Angerer). As the rest of my post indicated, I acknowledged that he was a Hok and that his Hok logic is stupid.

Similar in terms of explosiveness and dunking prowess, yes. Cook needs to improve his defensive effort and perimeter skills if he wants to play in the NBA. I think he can get there with the perimeter skills- he has a nice looking stroke and has some pretty good ball handling skills for a PF. Not much demand for a back to the basket PF in today’s NBA.

Not even you can believe this ****.

I literally laughed out loud when you said he has a nice looking stroke and good ball handling skills. Nice work

Feel like Cook has horrible handles. He travels a lot. Not sure about his stroke either.

He knocked down plenty of mid range jumpers, and his stroke is smooth. Improved his FT% by a pretty decent amount from Freshman to Sophomore seasons.

He also has pretty good handles for a PF. He was pretty much Iowa’s only penetrator last season and was able to take his man off the dribble from the perimeter/mid range and get to the basket.

He does turn it over a lot (again, because he is basically the only player who can create his own shot), and is not a very good passer.

Sounds like Carton is expected to commit to Ohio State today. That surprises me; Michigan seems like the objectively best voice, and it’s not even close.
DJ obviously wanted to play at a B1G program that also had a strong football legacy. He eliminated the non-football B1G programs early.

His handles are awful and so is his jumper. Stop it

The #2 pick (a power forward) played a TON of back to the basket.

Don’t try to make it seem like Bagley is strictly a PF; he’s a PF/C. He’s also a lot longer and more athletic than Cook and a much better rebounder. Bagley can and will play C in the NBA; Cook can’t and won’t.

Are you for some reason under the impression that people who are good ball handlers never turn the ball over? He’s not going to run PG like Draymond Green, but he’s a good ball handler for a PF.

So......good ball handlers turn the ball over A LOT and can't pass? A good ball handler may turn it over, but not a lot. They are usually at least ok passers.

So you are seriously going to sit here and tell me that Fran didn’t recruit Uthoff to play basketball at Iowa? Lol.
Here is the 2011 recruiting profile for Iowa (from Hawkeye Insider) - the first is a prospects list and the 2nd is the OFFERS list (and he wasn't on the shooting guard offer list either). The last pic is Uthoff's "Interests" profile from 247 Sports (2011):

SO, Fran did NOT recruit him. As another poster pointed out, if he had it would have been while he attended UW & that would have been illegal AND against Fran's #rightway mode of recruiting. I think Uthoff was a Hok fan and his girlfriend attended UofI and so JARROD made the decision to transfer. Fran was willing to take him - but he didn't "recruit" him.
