In the first five years as a head coach Kirk had a record of 16-40. Campbell had a record of 35-15. I am willing to let Campbell have his time to fix the program.

Idk, I know the point you're trying to make. But since Iowa States success under Fred Hoiberg in basketball there has been significant changes to the University. Growth in overall under grad and graduate students, development of new businesses and locations around ames, development of new dorms and rec centers, and huge donations into our athletics programs.

Can one person change an entire university? No. But can sustained success help the overall national perception of a university, and thus lead to positive changes? Certainly.

So you are going on record to say that the almighty Coach Fry or Gable had no positive impact on the University of Iowa, or conversely Lickliter a bad influence? Fry didn't increase funding to the University at all or ingrain most of the state at the time to be Iowa fans for generations to come thereby changing recruiting across all sports? I am not saying that CMC has had or even will have that kind of impact but you are kidding yourself if you believe that a coach can't change the landscape for the entire University?

Kirk has done a really good job of figuring out a way for Iowa to overpay for his services. He would never leave that.
