The 2nd team All American had 25 catches last year. The 3rd team All American had 23 catches last year. The 4th team All American is going into his Junior year and has one career TD. Pretty tough competition going on there. Sounds like making the All American list for a TE is like being named the starting PG for Fran

Honestly I thought Fant getting that 1st team nomination meant something until I did some more digging and realized there are no TE's out there anymore. I'm guessing Chase just missed out
I actually think he has a high ceiling, especially in the "we can't recruit WR" offense Iowa runs and the schedule he gets to face. BUT...he only had 28 catches last year and was third team all conference last year so let's face it there just isn't any premier TE's out there this year. All the Mackey Award finalists from last year were seniors or the winner Mark Andrews who went pro early and got drafted in the third round
