Iowa -7 vs ISU

Yes, Campbell does treat conference games with a different intensity and focus- a much lesser one. KF isn’t the one who said he would rather beat his rivals than win a conference championship.

Your head coach said the two highlights from last season was beating Iowa State and Nebraska. Not winning a bowl game or beating Ohio State but beating Iowa State

Hawk fans resorting to super bowl talk is like Trumpers talking about Hillary. Lazy and unoriginal.

Interesting. NCAA attendance numbers said Oklahoma, TCU, and Missouri all had a decrease in attendance last year. To be fair, Iowa had a huge decrease but the home schedule was not good. I’m sure this year will be better. Iowa State was up quite a bit. Iowa factor?
I thought Iowa’s home schedule last year was pretty solid for what being in the B1G West can offer. Ohio State at Kinnick for the for the first since 2010 and it won’t happen again until at the earliest 2022, that’s a 12 year window of not getting the premier conference team at your stadium.
Penn State also came to Kinnick and they are probably the second best B1G team.
Minnesota is one of their oldest rivalries and Iowa’s played them well it seems like for a while.
Wyoming had some excitement because of people wanting to see the QB.

I love how this countdown clock is a big deal. Who gives a ****? You want to win EVERY game. Rivalry games mean a lot especially to fans. BUT, if you are competing for a conference championship, obviously conference games mean more than nonconference. Still, a rivalry victory is a nice feather in your cap and beating ISU was one of Iowa's best wins last year. Early in the season, it's a nice measuring stick game for both teams.

Honestly, I dread the game each year and wish that they'd either quit playing it or go two on two off. But I don't fault Campbell for having a $100 countdown clock hanging somewhere (if it's actually real) just like I don't fault Ferentz for having ISU FB posters in the locker room one year. This argument about who cares more is freaking stupid.

Super Bowl is the biggest game of the year. The won that has the biggest bearing on a successful season. My post from years ago is consistent with this. The loss to ISU hurt bad. Listening to ISU fans wasn’t fun. Every game in the conference was more important. Every one. ISU is probably the rival, although it might be different for northern Iowa area Hawk fans, but the big ten games are the playoffs and Super Bowl. ISU is the preseason.

Again, this is my opinion. Another fan may believe the season begins and ends in September against the Clones. That’s fine, whatever for them.
Cytwins is the one who brings up Super bowl talk........
you sound like my kids.

Here is a hot take, just because Iowa pulled the game of the decade out their ass against Ohio State, you are not on their level, you will never be on their level, and no matter how badly you want to be on their level, it will NEVER happen. So, coming on a rival site, pounding your chest about a game that was a fluke, touting a QB who is average at best telling me to bring something to back it up is hilarious. You have no grasp of reality.

Got the blowtorch out this time. The only thing accurate in that post is that I'm on a rival's board.

Hell, if you look at my first post, I said I had no visions of grandeur in regards to Stanley. I absolutely didn't come at it with the angle of "well, Iowa beat the brakes off OSU, therefore Stanley > anything OSU has. On top of that, Iowa is on their level"

What I DID say, was that I don't think you can definitively say they have 3 QBs on their roster (post Barrett) better than Stanley when they haven't taken any meaningful snaps.

So you think you are on the same level as Ohio State?? You definitely need to get a new grip on reality. I know we beat Okie, but we are nowhere near their level.
