They haven't been gut vaccinations for a long time. My brother had the rabies series around 30 years ago and they were in the arm. My father had the rabies series in the 1960's while stationed in Turkey and they were in the gut like you say.

That puts my mind at ease a bit. Rabies shots are the only reason bats freak me out.

I saw an ER one time where they had the flow chart for when rabies shots should be given
- bit by an unknown/unfound domestic animal
- bit by a wild animal that couldn't be found
- looking at or being in the general vicinity of a bat.

She apparently chose either slow excruciating death later or a series of gut vaccinations.

46 year old can be pretty fit . . . my grandparents always seemed old to me, even at a young age . . . gray puffy hair, doing old-fashioned things, etc. So I had a very different image in my head when clicking on this.
