***2018 US Open Golf Thread***

Hope the USGA doesn't **** the course up like the past couple of years. Please tell me we won't have to listen to Joe Buck in the booth.

Supposedly they aren't messing the course up.

The bad news is you will have Buck/Fox crew on the call.
 
The Fox crew is actually the best in the business IMO. Way better than CBS. Golf on CBS is just bad. Fox had such a bad start in 2015 that they’ve embraced shot tracker and other technology to make the broadcast great. They are going to be using the new putting technology this week too which shows the line.

While they still have plenty of room to improve, I do agree that Fox does put on the most interesting telecast. The additional tech is great. They understand that almost everyone watching now has a widescreen TV, and usually a big one at that. Much better use of the real estate.

Always difficult to pick golf winners, so I usually go with who's "hot', or 'trending':
Who's Hot: Justin Rose / Patrick Reed / Bryson DeChambea (sp?)
Who's Not: Tiger / Ricky / Sergio

Regarding TV Commentators; at least I won't have to listen to Marble-Mouth Nick Faldo
 
Love the two feature groups loaded with names. Don't care who wins (besides Tiger of course), but just want some Sunday drama.

Yep... I was at the Friday round. Between the soft conditions and lack of wind the course played completely different than it was designed. Those guys made it look easy though, Erin Hills would have eaten alive and I'm a pretty decent golfer.

Fox in 2015 was still better than having to listen to ******* Faldo ramble on or McCord try to be funny.

I do not get the hate for Buck either. I have no idea why people hate him. The rest of that crew is going to be great with Strange, Faxon and Zinger out there. That's not to mention the graphics. Can't wait to take it all in.

I really hope they go back to Erin Hills at some point for something. People ***** about how "easy" it was but I think there could be a 15-20 shot different if it's firm and the wind blows. I feel the same about Chambers. They screwed up the grass and it turned into a **** show but I think there's potential there.

Under the proper conditions Erin Hills would play MUCH tougher. The players were able to attack pins all 4 days and if the course was drier none of those shots would have held. IMO the only way Erin Hills gets another US Open is if they agree to tighten up some of the fairways.

I worded that wrong. I hope they play something there. I can't imagine a US Open will ever be back and now, with the PGA moving, I don't think it'll ever get one of those.

I think Erin Hills is going to have to get a PGA Championship and perform well before they get a US open again, which is gonna be like 10 years

Chambers Bay was awesome IMO
 
Fox had a rough first year, but have been really good since then IMO. Getting rid of Norman was a good move. And I like Azinger.

The best thing about Fox though is their shot tracker. They use it on nearly every shot, and also show where the pin is as well. It's awesome. The very first time I ever saw shot tracker I said "they have to find a way to do this for every shot".... and Fox did it.

I wish Fox could get Feherty too.
