Is Fran building a regional powerhouse or just calling Iowa fans idiots and morons?

Common sense. Considering you aren't mentioning any other teams besides Rutgers I can only assume you are agreeing with me. Illinois will have more talent this year, same with Minnesota, Northwestern and Nebraska. Penn State without Carr is still a better roster than what Fran has constructed

1) You assume that Ellingson started regularly. I have no idea if he did or not. Coaches do at times start a less talented player. Prohm has done this as well.
2) How does talented player and talent issue = the same thing in terms of team talent?

Ok then in your opinion using whatever parameters or metrics you want to use who do you think in the Big Ten has a less talented or worse roster than Iowa?
More like no sense. Why won't you actually pick a metric by which to measure talent or define what talent is? If we are just going by opinion, then everyone's idea of talent could be different. Some could talk about college production, some HS rankings, some NBA potential. Without some concrete measurement I couldn't say exactly which teams have more talent than Iowa or less talent than Iowa. I won't agree to what you said because it is your opinion which we know is just a troll opinion, and I haven't had time to look at the rosters of each team. And that is not to say that Rutgers is the only team with less talent. It could be that Iowa is last in talent based on definition of "talent." I really don't know what most Big Ten teams have on their roster besides the better teams like Michigan and MSU, and Purdue.

8. D.J. Carton
What he does: A throwback to the days of pure, pass-first point guards, Carton is all about getting into the lane and making things happen. He’s always got his head up, surveying the action, has burst off the dribble and is a high-level athlete. Don’t sleep on his scoring, though, because he’s just as dangerous there as he is as a playmaker for others.
Contender analysis: Carton is down to a final six of Indiana, Iowa, Marquette, Michigan, Ohio State and Xavier. Iowa has coveted the local product for some time and will be right in it until the end, while Michigan and perhaps Indiana now appear to be the biggest competition. If the Detroit Pistons hire John Beilein, Carton’s recruitment could change quickly.

Like I said, it was mostly a defensive issue.
And even if what you said is true, both of those players are off the roster so the talent should be upgraded.
I don’t think it’s worth arguing over.
1. Mad Fran is awful at recruiting.
2. He is not good at developing talent. Some players, like Pemsl and Cook, seem to get worse the longer they are there.
3. He is a poor in game coach. He rotates in 12 guys. He decides Zach McCabe should take crucial last second threes instead of someone like Marble or Uthoff.
I guess he has his even keeled temper and charming personality to fall back on.

I would say the talent is upgraded just by adding Wieskamp but not by enough to make a huge difference. Fran is still going to play a handful of guys minutes every game that aren't talented enough to deserve to play in a P5 conference
And I do not think anyone believes Wieskamp is the defensive savior they have been waiting for on the perimeter.
Iowa fans only look at offense though when evaluating their roster
He isnt, but he will be an upgrade. Iowa doesnt need to become a good defensive team. They just need to not be terrible at it.
I will look strictly at Rivals 150 rankings from HS. Again, this isn't what I think. I simply looked at the rankings and who had the most Rivals 4 stars plus Rivals 150 players which includes some 3 stars.
Teams with more talent than Iowa:
Michigan State, Michigan, Purdue, Ohio State, Indiana, Maryland, Nebraska, Penn State, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Illinois
Less talent than Iowa:
Rutgers
Interestingly, Rutgers would have surpassed Iowa if Corey Sanders had stuck around.
Wisconsin and Northwestern I believe were barely above Iowa.
