A few years ago a guy decided he'd film a beaver that was on his trail and got too close. The thing went at him and bit his thigh and got into the main artery and he died.

It's really difficult to tell beaver stories.

Before we get too hung up on what dachshunds look like we should probably remember that dachshund is German for badger hound. They were bred to go into burrows and take out badgers. When in packs they also could take on larger animals like wild boars.

Very sad. If you ever visit Recife in Brazil or Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean, don't go in the water. Neither place is safe and it's not worth the risk (and I lived and surfed in the heart of the Red Triangle in Northern California......).
