I doubt Colbray is trying to get down to 184. Making weight a once or twice in the spring/summer is one thing..a whole college season is another. And yes, Andersen at 197 is a pipe dreamIt is great to see Colbray back in action. He was gaining so much momentum during the season, it was tough to have the season end just when we were starting to get glimpses of his potential.
86kg = 189.598lbs
If he is planning on moving to 184, what would that mean for 197? Is Ethan Andersen a pipe dream?
Interesting. I hadn't heard that. It would definitely be better for those individuals to be at those weights I'd imagine. Makes the lineup not as good IMO but that should also be secondary to whats best for each individual. If Colbray continues to buy in and can make 184 in a proper way, he can do some damage there.I know the coaches want Colbray to go to 184, so it wouldn't surprise me if he ends up there. Straw just didn't want to cut down during the offseason, so I'd expect him back at 157 and Degen remaining at 149. As far as 197...no idea
Very interesting weights by some guys.
Leisure: 143 lbs
Degen: 154 lbs
Straw: 163 lbs
Colbray: 189 lbs

I like it. That would be a solid way to fill one of the holes in the lineup (if everyone redshirts). Maybe Leisure is testing the waters so he can be depth at 141 and 149.I think the best lineup we could have next year would be:
125: Mackall
133: Gomez
141: Parker
149: Leisure
157: Degen
165: Straw
174: Coleman
184: Bush
197: Colbray
HWT: Gremmel or Andersen
Might not be best for some individuals but would be best lineup (if everyone redshirts)

Im more interested in what might happen in the middle weights. Does Straw move up to 165? Does Degen move up to 157? If not, does the loser of him and Leisure move up to 157?

This line-up vs last years squad.
125: Mackall --> upgrade
133: Gomez --> upgrade
141: Parker --> neutral or upgrade
149: Leisure --> downgrade
157: Degen --> neutral or upgrade
165: Straw --> upgrade
174: Coleman --> upgrade
184: Bush --> neutral or downgrade
197: Colbray --> neutral or upgrade

Welcome home Willie!Willie Miklus at 197 would be nice to transfer back home for his season year![]()
I would rather see that also. Optimistic views of that line-up at NationalsIn a dual sense I agree. From NCAA standpoint I think we have a chance at scoring more points if Degen stays at 149, Straw at 157 and Jennings at 165
He is graduating and is done competing.I've had a busy Spring and maybe missed but where is Harrington at Hwt? Do we expect Gremmel and/or Anderson to beat him out? I thought Harrington was a RS Junior for the 2017-2018 season.
eIt is funny that people thought Colbray might move up to hwt and was having troubles with weight at 197. He is not that big for 197.
the dumber narratives from last year. He was a small 97.It is funny that people thought Colbray might move up to hwt and was having troubles with weight at 197. He is not that big for 197. 184 might be a stretch - I don't know what he actually weighs, just the eyeball test.
Leisure wrestled 65kg @ Jr WTT also, so I think it is safe to say he could make 141 if he had a spot there - maybe he tries to contend with Parker? Both Bryce Meredith and Heil were huge 141 (I would assume bigger than Leisure is). Does anyone know how these 2 do in practice?
I would image Degen stays at 49, Straw at 57, and Colbray at 97.
