Wigginton declaring for NBA Draft, not hiring agent

Wow that is just fascinating, thanks so much for posting a picture of 2 random people too.

God you are annoying.
Give him a freaking break. Someone asked a question and he answered it with a little bit of the 'why' to back it up.

This wasn't an occasion where he just randomly posted crap. He answered a poster's question.

The NBA has been upping the money paid to the second round picks in the past couple of years to ensure to get them in their G-League program and influence players to not opt for more money oversees.
As it relates to Lindell, he is currently not projected in the top 2 rounds of the draft and without an invite to the Draft combine it will be difficult for him to significantly raise that projection. He is already on record than LW would rather return to Ames than toil in the G-League and that is where most of players after the top 25 end up spending their first year.
None of us know what he is being told by his agent and the team scouts and it could make since for him to leave but all indications I've seen suggest he should come back and be a Cyclone this year.

Still, 1st round money vs 2nd round money is night and day. If you have a decent shot at playing yourself into the first by coming back a year, it should be an easy decision, IMO.

His agent?

Sounds like a 2nd round guarantee type of situation

There is no Guarantee in the draft..Ask Lazard. LW chances of getting drafted in 2nd round are low at best this year.

Even if he is told he could go 2nd round to Team x by that team..you get one shot at the draft...one shot at college ball. If he has a shot at being a 1st round pick by improving his game then you don’t declare this year...you don’t even consider it.

It’s not like LW cant get drafted in 2nd round next year. One thing is for certain..he isnt getting drafted in the 1st round this year.

Prohm could know that Lindell is coming back and not tell us, but rather wants Lindell to be out there as much as possible. Prohm knew about Monte coming back a good ways ahead of the announcement by the University two years ago. Leading up to that, there was a lot of skepticism about whether he would be coming back or not, and Prohm even played it off like he wasn't sure how it would go.

I think Prohm's playing this the same way. It can only be a positive for Lindell and Iowa State to have his name in so many teams' workouts and all that Jazz. Even if you know he's coming back theres no reason to tell anyone. Keep his name in NBA teams' circles and hopefully develop some buzz going into next season,

Another thing about this whole situation. Lindell has flat out said he does not want to do any sort of G-League route. Now, I know that isn't a for sure thing as you can't predict the future, but if that is his thinking about his game and his prospective career path, then I would be shocked if he came out this year.

In his current position (Freshman, no-combine invite) He would have to essentially get every type of non-legally binding assurance that a team will take him and not stash him, and I just don't see that happening.

The whole reason Wigginton declared was to get feed back from the NBA teams. For his pro prospects it makes sense to schedule as many team workouts as he is offered to get the the input up to May 30th.
It would be nice for the Coaches and Fans if he pulled his name out of the draft early but, it is better for him to get the most out of his evaluation and make visits until he has to make the official announcement.

Thanks for posting this, it basically says what most say wrt Lindell - he should return. However, the Lindell write-up wasn't the best - it says we had "several" sit-out transfers that could make the difference for next year. I don't think 2 qualifies as "several", plus I really doubt that the two sit-out transfers will have a huge impact next year - the incoming freshman class is much more important in my view. I think adding Shayok should have a significant positive impact, but I'm not convinced that Jacobsen really will. JMO

Jacobson will play and help Lindell, not as impactfull Shayok. Considering the roster Wigginton was trying to carry last year it is a major improvement. That doesn't factor in a healthy NWB and Talley which are like adding transfers. I'll give the writer a pass on stating several instead of couple this one time.

Both the transfers are going to play considerate minutes. Shayok will start and Jacobson will be valuable post depth, something we haven't had in God knows how long.
