Graham Couch: Iowa Basketball is a mid-major roster

I am not saying getting transfers is not the best way to do things, but you even have to admit that some of the transfers that ISU brought in were not good character. The one guy Iowa brought in fizzled out before he even got through the summer that had a bad history. I think Fran was done trying to count on guys like that after that incident. But it worked for ISU in that they are a winning program with a sweet 16 or 2 under their belt because of it. Some coaches like it, some dont. Hoiberg was the king of getting the best of the best. That is hard to do in the transfer market now.

Like who?

Tandy, Wahl and Anderson are all "warm" to ISU. I would say ISU's top targets are:

Lewis
McKinney
Tandy
Terry
Wahl
Anderson
Leech
Williamson

Probably missing a couple

Yes I see that, I was looking at top 50 top 100 guys. How many scholarships does ISU have? one for the CSU transfer?

Tandy is a UK lean it appears. and I know about Leech being in the dark for now. Wahl looks like a good prospect.

The ones that were accused of stealing, and that unfortunate situation with that UNLV guy. That sucks how that all ended up after he left ISU. Not saying they were bad guys, but they were risks that paid off.

Tandy isn't a UK lean. ISU has 3-4 scholarships to give out with Babb, Shayok and Talley leaving for sure and probably Wigginton

You're creating a false equivalency between the felon that Fran recruited and the transfers Hoiberg recruited.

Also Twins' question, which Cyclones had character issues and I'll expand on it, which ones had character issues after they enrolled at ISU?

Who are they?
I thought it was Royce with a laptop but I could be wrong there, but there were also issues with discipline and some small drug stuff like weed with the MSU guys. Just some questionable things that needed to be addressed.

Oh so one person?

Apparently non had issues at ISU which is why I said it paid off.

Is this another version of that "thugs" talking point?

I am not saying ISU did it the wrong way, but saying some of the guys did not have questions is being ignorant. I myself think Hubbard was a dumb move to bring in. It made no sense. Fran was probably gunshy after the backlash he got for a guy with that history. Uthoff was good. Dickerson from juco was a guy I wished would have stuck it out. Iowa needs more transfers period.

Although I've heard Hagans will eventually reclassify to 2018, I don't think UK gets to the point where they offer Tandy. Cal's been hot in 2019 already. Not sure Herro is a 1 and done either.
