Graham Couch: Iowa Basketball is a mid-major roster

But I feel it in my bones that we get one this time.... just a gut feeling

Hey guys, just doing some Twitter surfing, and I will say one thing about Iowa and Iowa State. At least we don't have a complete and utter D-Bag covering one of our sports, like Roy Schmidt covers Illini recruiting (know he isn't strictly Illini). People started unfollowing him because he had bad information on Okoro's committment to Oregon, and he completely melted down yesterday.

Roy Schmidt‏ @prepbullseye
For those who have now unfollowed me since the Okoro recruitment: I hope all of you rot in hell, and I am willing to bet that one day all of you will.

Roy Schmidt‏ @prepbullseye
So...are all of you mfer's also unfollowing the lead recruiting analyst at Rivals? After all, his info was wrong on the timeline of Okoro's announcement. Never mind that he was lied to and set up just like I was.

Roy Schmidt‏ @prepbullseye
It is just laughable that a delusional fan base such as the Illini Nation would accuse me of needing help when they are the most mentally imbalanced and delusional group of people on earth. Birds of a feather flock together I guess.

No bastard. My age is higher than your IQ. And if you and the rest are so intent on finding me help, why don't all of you dimwits pony up and pay for it? Then when you do I will tell my "guidance counselor" a thing or two about all of you.

My god..... that's one way to lose a job.

College Football Reference's computer rankings had ISU as #82 (out of 128) in 2015.

#88 in 2016

#26 in 2017

Sorry, but the improvement in the program is real. There was some luck in some games, but there was some terrible luck in some other games. Everybody who gives even a cursory glance at the roster and recruiting would see that in a moment.

National writers without a dog in the fight have recognized it, as well.

Thing is, Iowa's program has stepped it up some lately, too.

So it is kind of unclear which is going to emerge the better.

I’m not disputing they improved significantly from 2016 to 2017. However, do you honestly expect people to view last season as the new baseline for the Iowa State football program moving forward? To me that is closer to the ceiling of what Iowa State can be moving forward than it is a baseline/expectation.

They have quite a bit of talent on defense, but outside of Butler and Montgomery, I’m not sure there is much talent on the offensive side of the ball. Throw in a completely new OC, and things might not operate as smoothly on that side of the ball next year. Plus, it is incredibly unlikely Iowa State has as few turnovers next year as they did in 2017.

I don't think the turnover thing is luck. Montgomery doesn't fumble and Kempt is great with ball security

Didn't know Campbell was a completely new OC since he has always been part of the play calling. Cool story bro.

I’m not ready to believe that last year’s football season for Iowa State is any indication of how the program will perform moving forward. I think Iowa State benefitted a lot from some turnover luck and being overlooked by their opponents. If they can put together another season like last year, I will recalibrate, but right now I believe Iowa State is more likely to miss a bowl game this upcoming season than they are to win 8 games again.

God you’re a ******* moron. Why are you here? Why are you so worthlessly insecure and such a ******* loser you keep getting new email addresses so you can reregister after getting banned.

To call you pathetic would be an insult to dan. Jeff reninga things you’re a sorry sack.

Grow some self esteem. Iowa doesn’t ******* matter in the scope of the NCAA. Get over being a sad whiny ***** and just leave

A significant percentage of turnovers offensively is luck-based. One perfectly placed helmet is all it takes to make even the most secure ball carriers fumble. Also, I’m not sure Kempt is so great with ball security. He had quite a few throws last year where he just kind of threw it up for grabs, and his receivers were able to come down with the ball. With Lazard gone, that’s probably not going to be as successful.

Get with the process. Its not due to luck, its due to the attention to detail (or lack there of).

You have anger management issues, man. You take this stuff wayyyyyy too seriously. I would argue that the real loser here is the person who continuously throws a hissy fit because someone they disagree with is posting on a message board.
