Graham Couch: Iowa Basketball is a mid-major roster

Unless the inferior team spends all off season planning for us and makes the game the #1 priority for the year.

Thanks for the info. Do you know his name?

Noah Hutchins. I guess Francis has known him from his home state ties? No clue here but he is on the Iowa radar.

Other PG that have offers out are

Carton, Terry, Watts (MSU lean), Beverly (MSU lean), Mckinney (St. Louis area, no clue where Iowa sits

Then this Hutchins for NY with no offer

Then comes Locure. Locure recruitment seems to have started to cool way down. He would be the 7th PG offer (8th if you count Francis going to UNC)

Seems like Fran is learning. Took him 8 plus years, hopefully it doesnt stop.

McKinney isnt coming to Iowa.

Carton and Terry are the only current PG's with offers that Iowa has any type of shot with.

I do not think he can compete at a P5 level. Maybe by Jr year if all development goes well, but I just don't see it.

You'd be okay with taking a flier on Samake if you miss on your top guys, but are questioning if ISU should be going after Mercedus Leech?
No No No No No, I was wondering why his recruitment is so strange. Samake is not hurt or in any "trouble". Who knows with Leech. I found it weird that all the big guns ran away but ISU stayed.

well, the big guns have the luxury of constantly having other 5* recruits in their recruitments, so it isn't surprising they would back off of him after not seeing him for over a year.

I’m not ready to believe that last year’s football season for Iowa State is any indication of how the program will perform moving forward. I think Iowa State benefitted a lot from some turnover luck and being overlooked by their opponents. If they can put together another season like last year, I will recalibrate, but right now I believe Iowa State is more likely to miss a bowl game this upcoming season than they are to win 8 games again.
I don't think you can believe this. Have you seen our recruiting? Not to mention we are loaded this year. I think we win 9 including a win in IC. Won't be easy, but we are going to be much better so hopefully we can overcome the Superbowl factor.

College Football Reference's computer rankings had ISU as #82 (out of 128) in 2015.

#88 in 2016

#26 in 2017

Sorry, but the improvement in the program is real. There was some luck in some games, but there was some terrible luck in some other games. Everybody who gives even a cursory glance at the roster and recruiting would see that in a moment.

National writers without a dog in the fight have recognized it, as well.

Thing is, Iowa's program has stepped it up some lately, too.

So it is kind of unclear which is going to emerge the better.

The last 3 years, Iowa has had Higher ranked recruiting classes.....
