Well I wasnt calling him a great coach at that point in time...its not hard.
I bet you considered Kirk great when he was below .500

That has to scare you guys some
It does scare me. He is not recruiting better than Kirk yet, when that happens I will panic some.

We are talking about what make a coach good right? I said Campbell was good and not great. I do not feel he is better than Kirk at this point in his career.
No, he crossed into being a great coach when he had three straight 10 win seasons and finished Top 10 in the AP poll 3 years in a row.
Wait, what? I have no idea what you're talking about. I was responding to YeahBuddy's convo with Twins about how Campbell wasn't great and who the best in the state was. I don't disagree Ferentz is the better/more respected coach, and for good reason, but to act as if he was never under .500 is not fair. And to act as if Matt Campbell isn't a good coach because he had a dumpster fire year one, and until he's he's above .500 we can't even have that discussion, is not a very legitimate argument in my mind. But that's just my opinion. You are right he did. But he overcame that and somehow did well. I thought coaches could not do such a thing because they cant..... that is the logic I have seen.
Locure is plan C. I will not be happy with him and Patrick, but with him and Patrick to go along with another top 100 guy I can go for. It's funny you're basing that off recruiting rankings but you will talk about how good Locure is when you guys sign him despite his ranking
Ive admitted CMC is a good coach. Dont you think 2 years into his career at a P5 program is a little premature to declare him a great coach?
This is for @derpyherky
So I just want to be sure that at this point in CMC's career at ISU ( 2 years) he is not better than Kirk in his second year at Iowa?
Watch out more math..
CMC first two years
11-14 (0.44)
Ferentz first two years
4-19 (.17)
So by the numbers, Ferentz would be the better coach at this point in his career? Or are we comparing 2 years vs 19 years again? Its important to understand your consistency. Just want to clarify what makes a good coach.
Locure is plan C.
And by the end of the summer, after the summer evaluations, that will not be a terrible fallback to Carton when we miss on him. I really like Locure. He will get an Iowa offer if we miss on Terry and Carton.

Admittedly, I wrote my post before I saw YeahBuddy's follow up of, "let's wait until he gets above .500" so it was on the basis that he didn't say that.
I am talkin 2018... at this point in MC career vs Kirk at the present TIME. Right now Kirk is better. Is this really that hard
I have read some things since yesterday that have me a little more skeptical. Things about his motor and effort have kind of turned me off TBH. I think he is a good player, but he is not the missing piece like Carton could be.Your opinion on Locure sure has changed
It's not hard, its just a dumb argument. It's like (broad example here and not saying they are comparable to these GOATS) but it's like saying that Lebron isn't as good as Jordan in Lebron's second year in the NBA. No duh. But that doesn't mean that Lebron shouldn't get all the respect he deserves for what he is doing in the present moment.I am talkin 2018... at this point in MC career vs Kirk at the present TIME. Right now Kirk is better. Is this really that hard
Well you fail to understand the difference of a coach 2 years into rebuilding a program and a coach who has been somewhere for 19 years. Its really hard to compare who is the "better" coach at this point in time due to different tenures.
