Graham Couch: Iowa Basketball is a mid-major roster

Well that would be dumb. Rhoads had minimal success at ISU just like Fran. Lickliter had no success at all. Both Rhoads and Fran are stubborn and struggle to recruit and both of those hurt them

Both Rhoads and Fran had embarrassing sideline and media antics, so they're similar there, however at least Rhoads didn't try to assault a ref and didn't call his team's fans idiots.

But you've already looked at both schedules. Just a little more work and you can tell us. I'm going to guess it won't fit your narrative.

I am not going to waste my time looking. I am not doubting you but I fail to see how it fits into the talk that both teams were fairly similar? If you know just tell us already.

Rhoads had 1 winning season with not his recruits.

Fran has had 6 winning season with his recruits.

80 of the 129 FBS schools make bowl games
64 of 347 Division 1 teams are eligible to make it to the post season in Basketball

96 out of 347 if you count NIT.

Why are you guys comparing this. I never did. I compared team supporting their coaches and how the sports were similar is all.

You think it's just as easy to have a winning season in college basketball as it is in college football?

I'm pretty sure Iowa was winless against NIT and NCAA Tournament teams which Jordan Bohannon called it “frustrating … knowing that we can play with most of these teams out there.”" Kinda funny.

Iowa State wasn't world beaters, but at least had some wins. I'm guessing they played more tournament teams too.

say it aint so! you support your team through tough times? Iowa fans are not supportive of those times like ISU? Now whose fan base is the funny one?

Both fan bases are supportive but quit acting like ISU is the second coming please.

Come back during the season for a game thread.

Disagree, he’d be best suited to put on a little weight and play the five. He has shown great shot blocking ability and could hold his own defensively at the five if he added more size and strength. He would also create mismatch issues at the five offensively. He doesn’t create any mismatches playing the four.

Nunge is slow and passive. That fire is never going to burn anyone that watches CBB regularly can see that. He’s Uthoff with about 25% of the talent.

What was Rhoads' record at ISU when JP gave him a 10 year extension?
I'm not sure actually. It was after the 2012 season, I think?

I do remember the amount being around $2MM/yr. That was a good chunk of money for what was largely disappointment, but it certainly could've been much worse.

It looks like it was right after the 2011 season and before their bowl game that year. His record at that point would have been 18-19 overall and 9-16 in the Big 12. The extension put his buyout at $7.5M and would decrease $750K each year.

Based on that extension and what he had accomplished at ISU, I find it hard any any ISU fan to mock Fran's extension.

That’s peanuts in football.
