Graham Couch: Iowa Basketball is a mid-major roster

Deanvogs and the others on here at the time said other schools were sniffing around but weren't allowed to offer because their coaches said they were going to go to Iowa after visiting
Just like that tall french kid was going to be a 5 star with more exposure

PSU and Nebraska will both be better next year. Will thump Iowa again.

ISU wins by double digits in IC this year. Go ahead and bookmark it.

Went to look at games Iowa won this year that they might not next year to balance the analysis. Wow, not many to work with.

They could lose to (if they played again):
Colorado - this was probably Iowa's 'signature' win from last year
Illinois - split
Wisconsin - split

Everything still points to same record, 2 more wins at best.

Compared to the average hok fan you aren't too crazy but that is not a very high bar. I am rooting for you.

OK, I SAID 16-15 at best without Cook. you just said Iowa would be 2 wins better at 15-16 than last years regular season where they went 13-18...... So congrats on trying to tell me I am delusional while pointing out your prediction is 1 win less than mine.......

I am not saying Iowa wins the BIG or gets 20 wins easy. I am saying best case they get to 20 wins. BEST CASE. Wont be easy but it is not impossible either.

Getting to 20 wins with that roster next year is probably impossible. There's just not much talent there and even if your best player comes back he'll continue to get misused

Wut? You said Iowa had a path to 19 or 21 wins. I am saying their best path is to 15 or 16 wins. Lets be clear, we do not agree on the outlook for the hoks!

And you said you could see a path to Iowa going 10-10 in the B1G. That does not exist, with or without Cook.

The amount of pressure being put on this kid before he's even stepped on the court is approaching record levels of Taven Hawk.

It seems like hok fans are expecting an instant starter who can score 20 a night. That shouldn't be too hard for the kid to accomplish, right?

Bohannon, Wieskamp, Cook, and Garza is a pretty good core. Not going to compete for any Big Ten championships, but that should be an upper half of the Big Ten group.

It amazes me you guys don't understand you can't win if you don't play defense. You think last year would have taught you that but apparently not

“Great young talent” thing is slowly making a comeback led by Hawkeye homer Chad Lestikow.

The Athletic's rundown on Cook in the draft. Lol

Projected draft slot: second round to undrafted

Key stats: 15.3 PPG, 6.8 RPG, 1.8 APG, 56.6/14.3/66.1

Comment: Cook is an interesting player with a lot of skill. He’s bouncy — especially for his size — and has good touch around the basket. But it’s hard to find a good player nationally who has been more misused than Cook was last year. He played nearly one-third of his minutes next to two true centers despite his best position also being at center. As the rest of the basketball world downsized, Iowa decided to play three true bigs fairly regularly and then give Fran McCaffery a contract extension. Go figure. Despite the fact that he should be playing most of his minutes as a true center, Cook still produced. It would be interesting to see him in a more functional situation, and Cook alluded to the potential for a transfer at the end of the season (although he has since squashed a rumored move to Missouri). He’ll get workouts, and if he was to stay in the draft, he’d be an interesting two-way contract candidate as well as a likely training camp look. But his stock is not where it should be right now after the dysfunctional Iowa season.
I was waiting to see when you'd come across this :)
