Iowa Football Recruiting

When Wagner visited practice and did not commit to the football team I was expecting him to go elsewhere. Good talent. Hopefully he sees the field and does well at Kentucky. I can fully understand wanting to get out of a place for a fresh start, no matter where it would be.

I agree but Iowa fans have a really strange obsession with Nebraska.... I find it ironic because they really haven't had to deal with "nationally relevant" Nebraska yet, which is annoying at a completely different level.

I don’t think we will ever have to deal with that, certainly not the level of relevancy they experienced under Osborne.

I do think Nebraska has the resources to be at least what Wisconsin, Mich St, etc. have been in the Big Ten.

I am as big of a Nebby hater as you'll find, but the game day experience in Lincoln is incredible. I've been to several places and it could be the best I've seen.

The Osborne days are long gone and are never coming back but NU can definitely be a B1G West annual contender. That's not exactly setting the bar that high and honestly, the B1G needs Nebby to be relevant in the West just for balance purposes.

Does anyone in Iowa name their IH tractors after a football team? Only in Nebraska. Had to live out their for two years during the Osborne years. That was painful!! Everyplace you ate had something Husker on the menu. I worked with a client in Albion, NE. People always asked me where that was at. My response " Just north and west of Columbus, NE, but its not there anymore as you go a mile west of Columbus, you will fall of the face of the earth."

I think what we saw under Bo is as good as Nebby can hope for going forward.

He won at least 9 games every year and made 1 B1G title game appearance.

Without looking it up, I think Wisky and MSU have played in and won the most B1G title games of anybody. NU is probably at best a second tier B1G team.

September 4th is a holiday in my book specifically for this reason.

I don't not see any reason why Nebraska can't at least be what Wisconsin and Mich St. have been.

They are able to recruit well, have great facilities and a massive fan base. It will certainly take the right coach though.

The crazy thing about Nebraska is that their recruiting has still been pretty good.

According to 247

2018--22
2017--23
2016--26
2015--30
2014--35
2013--22

Not "elite" but certainly good enough to be more competitive than they have been.

MSU has played in 3 B1G title games, winning 2 since it was added in 2011.

Wisky has played in 5 and won 2. I dont see Nebby becoming that, considering they would need to get through Wisky each year to win the West crown.

Both MSU and Wisky have probably averaged double digit wins since 2011 as well.

Can't Wisky & Mich St both thank Ohio St for one of those Big Ten titles? Or just one of them?

I don't think it is unreasonable for Nebraska to do what Wisconsin has done. Everything has been in place for them except for the right coaching staff (which is obviously the most important piece).

I think that says more about the B1G west than it says about Wisky...

NU can absolutely compete with WI for the west every year.
