Graham Couch: Iowa Basketball is a mid-major roster

Terrible defensively yes, but a guy can dream of improvement there, you have to give us hope at least.

I honestly think Connor will be a good player there. During the Drake game I think he was a great facilitator and then I look up at the scoreboard and it is a blow out. We needed that this year when Bohannon needed to sit because of miss matches. I think we will be better at the guard spot because of this. Moss needs consistency. Will he do it? probably not but he needs to figure it out or a 2019 guard will take his place in the lineup regardless if it is a good recruit or not. Dailey is a role player. I like the depth there with a healthy Connor and an older group.

I think that's very optimistic. You really needed to try to add an impact guard this off season and Fran pretty much decided he wasn't going to have anything effect Connor and his playing time

Bohannon and Connor at the point
Moss, Dailey, Fredrick (hopefully rs) at SG
Weiskamp, Dailey, Baer
Cook, Nunge,Pemsl, Kriener, Baer
Garza, Kriener, Nunge

That is a decent set up for a push to the bubble, without Cook though we lose to much athleitc ability and who knows if anyone can step up.

Wasn’t decent for even an NiT bubble push last year. Bringing everyone back does not equal improvement.

The NCAA has a rule that works for their purposes and the NBA has a deadline that works for them. We tend to forget that the NCAA players are only a part of who the NBA are considering.

It seems a bit concerning the Iowa staff doesn’t know the correct deadline date.

Looks like he already told the coaches he wasn't coming back

Is it possible that he isn't planning on entering the draft but would entertain joining an NBA teams G-League as an undrafted player? Does that let him sign the paperwork he needs to on May 30th to return to school, but still end up leaving to join a G-League team on June 10th?

That is just what I was thinking. It must be he has decided he is not coming back but he still may withdraw his name from the draft and then either play in Gleague or Europe and enter his name next year.

NIT bubble maybe but that's even being generous. That line up isn't going to get stops

Iowa may improve ever so slightly on defense, but certainly not enough to make a difference. You need athletes to play solid, unrelenting defense and they lack that across the roster. I can see the offense improving some. Maybe enough to net them a couple more wins than last season.

There is no way their offense is improving. They had a top 20 AdjO last year

I dont know a single Iowa fan that has ever listened to a radio broadcast of an ISU game.

I don't totally agree with this. To play elite defense you need great athletes but UNI plays pretty good defense on an almost yearly basis and they don't have great athletes. You can play really good defense with good fundamentals and good communication.

Yeah, but UNI's athletes > Iowa's athletes.
