Graham Couch: Iowa Basketball is a mid-major roster

It will be interesting to see how it all works out with Weiskamp. I'm sure the kid is pretty good, or he wouldn't be getting all the recognition. Still have to wonder how well he will transition into D1 basketball. Iowa seems to have a lot of guys that can shoot, and not very many interested in defending. THT brings it on both ends of the floor.

Just like the Titanic the AD has an undersized rudder:

Is this really the right thread to be talking about undersized rubbers?

Franny is still coaching Iowa right? Well there you go.

I probably shouldn’t give this helpful recruiting advice to Iowa, but I’m feeling nice. FRancis, find the player with the highest floor. Don’t worry about their ceiling, they will never reach it at iowa. They will find their floor, so if you get high floor kids, you won’t ruin them as much.

Well now Mad Fran will be cruising tall apartment buildings, looking for gawky kids.

Wieskamp will be better. THT is probably the better ballhandler and passer, and is stronger physically. But the two have pretty similar athleticism, and Joe is miles ahead as a shooter.

Joe isn't a good shooter Mashup. He shot like 35% from 3 against 6 foot tall Iowa kids

Yeah, he took a lot of bad shots because he was the only competent player on his team. He was an 85% FT shooter, which is much more indicative of his shooting ability.

So you Nixon the ISU grad transfer target is a good shooter? He shot 84% from the line

Also was Aaron White a good shooter?

That’s a fair point. It’s not always true that good FT shooter = good shooter, but it usually is the case. Especially for a high school kid, 85% on high volume is likely a pretty high indicator he’s going to be a good three point shooter.

He's joining another team of incompetents and playing better players

I watched the state championship game where THT made 18 of 18 FTs, or something crazy like that. Not sure that always translates into getting off shots and making them in college.
