Graham Couch: Iowa Basketball is a mid-major roster

The more I think about this topic - I can't think of any grad transfer who would consider Iowa. Grad transfers are usually looking for a bigger role and/or a bigger stage. If Mooney, for instance, was only looking for a bigger stage - he might consider a KU or Duke blueblood where he may only get 15-18 minutes (but he has a legit chance to get to the FF). If he is looking for both, he will go to a P5/6 school where he can be a focal point on a nationally relevant team & play in some NCAA tourney games. Iowa's philosophy, under Fran, seems to emphasize depth - gotta play 10-11 each game. There is NOT enough minutes for a grad transfer to be satisfied with that arrangement. Then, there's the issue of getting to the NCAAs - that is NOT a "given" under Mad Fran. So, there are no enticements for a grad transfer to answer Iowa's call (if they are making any in the first place).

The only thing Iowa has to sell for a grad transfer is you will be the best guard on the team and that SHOULD get you 25+ mpg

Does anyone else love how unbias Chad has a picture of Hawkeye football on his twitter account?

No team has a need for 14 scholarship players. Even if one is walking on.

JR paid Russ Smith's way for at least a year when he was at Louisville. I can't remember who they got with the extra scholarship, but it was someone who helped them win the NC banner that has since come down. Having an extra player is always worth it, unless that player is Zach McCabe, so I guess I see your point.
