Since it’s Masters week, I’ve been thinking about the majors lately. What is your favorite major? For me personally, it’s always been...

1.) Open Championship
2.) US Open
3.) Masters
4.) PGA

There is just too much history at the Open, especially at St. Andrews. I expect the PGA to leapfrog the Masters for me starting next year when the PGA moves to May. The PGA is always forgotten by me in mid-August

I like that The Masters is at the same track every year. Watching that tournament year in and year out, the fan knows what shot is next each time, it’s easy to remember how the shot has been played in the past. When an approach hits the green, I know If it’s good or not immediately, even if it doesn’t “look” good at first. A great example is the par 3 16th. Something about that appeals to me.

The Open Championship is 2nd for me. So much history on those courses, and that is how the game was meant to be played when it was invented. I’m not saying links style golf is “better”, because I don’t think it is, but it most definitely is the way the founding fathers of the game intended it. I also like the weather factor with The Open.

The US Open is probably 3rd for me, and that’s because it is difficult for me to consider the PGA a real major for some reason. The US Open can be the best major in any given year, but sometimes it’s the worst tournament on the schedule. They’ve set those up in the past so ridiculously, it’s not fun to watch. I know some like to see these pros look like the average golfer. Not me. I want to see these guys score.

Last is the PGA. Just doesn’t have the same cache as the other 3.

The U.S. Open is last by a mile, PGA been getting better (suffers somewhat by being last).

I won'l fault anyone for saying the Masters (though in some ways it's way overrated-and first).

I voted Open Championship.

The masters is one of the best golf courses in the world, so I will put it first. I don’t love some of the stuff that they do and have done, but the course and watching the players play it is the most fun.

British Open 2nd. Especially when it’s at the old course.

1) The US Open
2) The Masters
3) PGA
4) The Open

Although the US Open has lost a bit of appeal not that they've done away with the full round Monday playoff

I hate the pomp and circumstance of the Masters. It's just a golf course; stop treating it like holy ground. But at the same time it's my favorite just because it's first and I always associate it with springtime. Puts me in a good mood.

Interesting. I actually don’t like that the Masters is played at the same course every year. I wouldn’t move it, I just want the variety of new courses. If all 4 majors stayed at the same course, it would blow. A course like Bethpage Black would’ve never been discovered.

I do think the PGA is going to get a lot better by getting moved to May in 2019. We are going to see a lot of newer courses over time out of the PGA because it can now go south. Hard to play a major in Texas in August.

You are not alone on the pomp and circumstances thing. That tournament thinks an awful lot of itself for being the youngest major. It has a lot of history, but it’s not the Old Course.

I have to go with the British, just because it's different golf and conditions compared to what we usually see.

Yeah, I could do without a lot of that stuff but at the same time, that whole attitude is what makes all the good things. The experience of attending the Masters is second to none. You don't have the idiots because people want to be there to be at The Masters, not to get drunk on a bachelor party. Things are cheap there because of that attitude. There's a trade off.

If Augusta underwent a restoration, it'd be improved but that's about the only way to improve it. They've ruined a few holes there in terms of how they were designed to play vs. how they play now. I'd like to see them changed back.

Anyway, I love the British Open. I get up way too early and catch some really good golf in hopefully some really harsh conditions and it's just different. Then I'd go with the US Open somewhat because of the test it is and somewhat because the broadcast is better than the Masters and the PGA. If I remove the fact that it's the first one, The Masters is probably a close third. There isn't a more exciting back nine that will be played and being first is a huge advantage. The PGA, until recently, has played some courses that aren't that great. Hopefully, with the move to May, they have a broader selection of courses and I think it'll help that event without hurting the others. Getting away from football is going to be a big deal as well.

A side note, but I am so pumped for the new schedule starting next year

February - WGC
March - Players and WGC
April - Masters
May - PGA
June - US Open
July - Open Championship
August - Playoff, WGC, and Olympic golf in 2020
September - Ryder or Presidents Cup

Freaking awesome. Spreads it out more and gets away from football

I have been to 3 of them, not the Open yet but I hope to fix that this summer. As cool as The Masters is on TV, it is absolutely unbelievable in person. PGA and US Open are fine in their own way but The Masters is something completely different. That place is immaculate with attention down to every detail.

There are plenty of other tournaments to move stuff around and find other courses - Augusta is one of the best setups in the game.

I like the "Open" aspect of both the British and the US Open. It's truly open to anyone who can qualify. This provides the most difficult field to compete against. The Masters is an invite, which is fine and gives it a uniqueness of its own - you have to prove yourself as a champion before you can have the privilege of playing in the tournament. But, they allow past champions to play, regardless of age and competitiveness, which waters down the field a bit (Bernhard Langer, Sandy Lyle, Larry Mize, etc).

1. The Open (the history)
2. US Open (the insane course set up)
3. The Masters (beautiful and dignified)
4. PGA (uh, whatever)

I went with the US Open. It use to be my choice by a long ways but now is pretty equal to the Masters and The Open.

I like getting a rotation of great courses. And I enjoy following the qualifying process and the story lines that come from that.

I had a baby right before the Open last year and spent a lot of time watching that all night long and enjoyed the tournament as a whole more than I ever have before.

PGA Championship always gets forgotten about, I enjoy the PLAYERS more. I think the schedule change will help but don't see it every being more than 4th on the list.
