Graham Couch: Iowa Basketball is a mid-major roster

If there is somebody on this board that shouldn't make fun of predictions made by others, it's probably you.

13-5 will always be on the worst predictions ever. He also said Butler and Wadley would both be better than Montgomery which is up there

You predicted 13-5 on HR and you've confirmed that

I was wrong

I was wrong

I don't know if I was wrong about that one. Stanley isn't good at Park is gone. Kempt is better than both obviously

Who says you have to take a kid each year but its really dumb not to focus on instate kids?

And convenient you left Wieskamp off the list. If you were able to keep most of Jok, Bohannon, Connor, Patrick, Wieskamp, Green, Carton and Foster home in a roughly 8 year time period that is a pretty good start on recruiting.

I stopped it at 2017, so I didn't conveniently leave anyone off. I'm talking about the last 5 years.

As for your list, Jok couldn't come here due to Lefty; Connor, Patrick, Weiskamp and Green were never coming here either. Otherwise, Iowa State is still actively recruiting Weiskamp and Carton, but maybe prioritizing them they way Iowa is. So 2 kids in the past 6 years that were highly rated enough to come to Iowa State and weren't otherwise linked to another in-state school.

Time and resources are finite. So I'm fine with Prohm making inroads in Chicago, Milwaukee and prep schools like Oak Hill. Those are areas that produce division one talent every year. My guess is there probably isn't a handful more elite prospects coming out of Osky and Bettendorf.

So I'm completely fine with Prohm making an attempt at those guys, but also focusing his recruiting efforts on more prosperous recruiting grounds. But if you think it's important to throw all your eggs into the "Iowa kid" basket, well then you should be pretty thrilled with the results you're seeing at U of I.

Again, I never said to throw all the eggs in the local basket or to take an Iowa kid each year. Its a really dumb strategy to ignore them though. There is a borderline 5 star PG in Bettendorf that Prohm didnt even bother watching until his junior season was almost completed. That doesnt make sense.

He isnt making elite instate talent a priority either, according to @CyTwins

I think they're recruiting Foster pretty hard. I don't think they thought they had much of a chance with Carton until he reached out to them but I still don't think they have much of a chance. I'd rather get elite talent from outside of the state though Dan
