Sure about that?
@CyTwins stated ISU had 6 of the top 7 players between the 2 squads last season but ISU and Iowa were similarly ranked in several metrics with Iowa being better according to Sagarin.

How can it be 5-2 in favor of ISU when they were ranked within a few spots in RPI and Iowa was ranked higher by Sagarin?
Also, I am assuming you would have Jackson ahead of Bohannon if you were ranking last seasons squads. So ISU had 6 of the top 7 players but the teams were similarly ranked by RPI and Sagarin.
I assume they are close in KenPom as well but that is blocked at my work for some reason.
It is impossible for you to be objective.
Putting up similar stats against much better competition while battling multiple injuries basically season-long and winning the head-to-head could lead one to do this.Sure about that?

Bite your tongue
What do other systems say?Pretty sure Sagarin takes SOS into account when doing his rankings.
Wieskamp isn't a very good shooter but he'd get minutes. Bohannon would see spot minutes to run him off some screens but then you would have to try to hide him on defense. It would definitely be an all ISU starting lineup and an ISU dominated team

Too bad Sagarin doesn't take into account s*** coaching. I think your ranking could be boosted tenfold on there, if you had something resembling a basketball coach at the top. I hope Fran stays forever. Clear the bank accounts for him.
I wish the reporter, I think it was Dochterman, would have pressed Fran a little more on the "body of work" response. I would say, "Your body of work shows you are barely above .500 overall in 8 years and below .500 in conference play over that time". "You have missed two straight tournaments in your 7th and 8th season." What about that body of work shows that you shouldn't be on the hot seat?
Sometimes you need to turn on the rocket boosters and put five shooters out there.
This would be a fun lineup in that regard...
Wigginton
Bohannon
Horton-Tucker
Lewis
Shayok
Might get slaughtered on defense and on the boards, but it would score.![]()
I guess we'll find out.Is Shayok really considered a "shooter"?
He has only made 55 three pointers in 103 career games and is a career 44.7% shooter.
RPI is the odd one out then, as Pomeroy has ToE a good 15 spots up.RPI has ISU slightly ahead of Iowa and KenPom is blocked at my work for some reason so cannot answer for them.

He is a career 37.4% (even if it has somehow declined over the years).

He is not outstanding but fills out the lineup between the two rosters.
For comparison, here is Melvin Ejim, who never cracked 35% even as as senior...

Hoiberg still had him bombing away from outside in all-shooter lineups.
This happened weeks ago. What an odd post.
Well Ejim shot almost as many threes his senior year than Shayok did his first 3 years combined at UVA.
I just think if you were going to put a set of 5 shooters on the floor there would be better options.
I am open to other suggestions from the combined roster.
I just figured Shayok is an acceptable shooter, has a reputation preceding him as a UVA guy as a defender, and has the size, length, and versatility to play a ultra-small-ball 5 in short bursts even if, yes, better posts would beat him up on the block.
I do not know who else you would put there.
Putting Lard or Garza there is not an all-shooter lineup, too.
