Graham Couch: Iowa Basketball is a mid-major roster

The "little things"....ok.
Yeah like repeatedly getting the ball in to a guy who was in a position to get it down the floor safely or bring it up himself safely against the WVU press. That is a "little thing" that was a big thing in that game. Talley, a forward filled in for the injured point guard against the WVU press and tore them apart. How hard is that to grasp?

But troll on, buddy, troll on.

Easy there. Buddy says he has backed off the trolling.

on top of great stats. I'd say he would have been top 2-3 players on Iowa's team this year but we all know there's no way fran develops him like Prohm did.

It's always fun to watch you hawk fans flounder in player eval when it's obvious you didn't watch ISU play outside of the Iowa game.

This is a stupid discussion, but anyone who watches Iowa State would know that while they survived and even won a few games without Babb, things went to hell once Young shut it down. He was very critical to the team.

Really not a good comp to either one on Iowa's roster. Why does it always come back to Iowa for you?
I'm guessing becAUE HE'S HAVING A DISCUSION WITH AN iOWA FAN ON THE isu
@YeahBuddy v @CyTwins

Table tennis is far more interesting.

I think he has a decent point, @CyTwins, that Talley's boost in numbers mostly came from boost in playing time, not any real increase in efficiency.

I think you have a good argument back, though, that (1.) Talley was facing really good teams, (2.) Talley was a plus defender on a bad defensive team, which does not always show up in a box score, (3.) maintaining your efficiency while scaling up like that is generally a good sign, and (4.) his efficiency metrics are okay/good, projecting as a good Big 12 bench player, which is exactly what we will need him to be next season. He met those expectations.

If Talley is your 6th or 7th man, you have a good squad.

If he is starting with major minutes, you are in trouble, but that will not be the case again. He will be situational where you need length and a handle, which is great.

Where would he be in Iowa's rotation next year (without Cook), for comparison?

Thank you. To say him and Solomon Young are bad is laughable

Talley has a pretty versatile game. He is athletic, he has a midrange jump shot, can dribble drive slash to the hoop and can hit the 3 ball some. Plus he can guard 3 positions on defense. If a hawk fan wants to call that a bad player, well then, they are just ignorant.

Yikes, all this talk about Cook as a middling player at best is nauseating. Some player on a bad team is going to get some points. All Cook was good for was a 5-10 minute span each game where he got a little energy, had a dunk or two and made some funny faces. He was maybe the worst defensive player on a P5 team I watched play this year. He had no leadership value on the floor and was inconsistent as hell.

I am thrilled that hoks are hanging any hopes they have for next year on him. If he is one of the top 3 players on their team again, they won't break .500. (Hok friends on here, this is where you tag this post to pull it out again next year).

I hope we stop comparing Talley or anyone else on next years ISU team to him. Our team, and most others, would be worse off with him, despite whatever inflated stats he might put up.
