I can't believe he wouldn't want Shayok for the upcoming season. With that loaded roster you have to go all in. Shayok may be good for spot minutes to spell Nunge or Connor. Who knows, that might be what pushes them from an elite 8 to final four.

I guess I don't understand why you think he is pretty bad? He averaged 7.5 points per game while being hurt for a lot of the cupcake games and was really good down the stretch
Are you kidding me? He's miles ahead of Zabel. Zobs was the biggest homer ever, except for Harry Caray.
Just to be clear, are we really debating Prohm vs Fran in terms of recruiting. A quick look on 247 ranks their classes like this:
Prohm 18
Fran 12 (woody and Gesell)
Prohm 16
Fran 16 (Cook)
Fran 18
Prohm 17
Then all the rest of Fran's classes, and there are some real doozies like 2014 and 2015. Basically Prohms off year so far in recruiting is when he got Wigginton and Lewis. Had McNeil not decomitted 3 of the 4 best classes between the two would be by Prohm.
Other than Cook, Fran's relying on on-state lifer hawk kids and his own kids to get mediocre to poor recruiting classes. Not saying its bad to get in state kids, but the stàte simply doesn't put out enough talent to consistently sustain good classes every year. If you could keep the absolute studs like Barnes, Paige, Foster, etc from leaving the state you could probably have a decent program, but that's tough to do.

Here is where Talleys stats would have ranked on Iowa's roster last year*:
PPG - 5th
Rebounds per game - 3rd
Assists per game - 2nd
*That was Talley's stat line from Jan 31 and on. It would be interesting to see how that measures up against Iowa's lineup during that same time period. Iowa played 9-games in that stretch, and went 2-7. ISU went 2-9.

The "mess" Prohm created was because of recruiting. Not his, Hoiberg's. Once Fred decided to head to the NBA, he just stopped recruiting. And it showed up hugely this season.
So the last month of the season he put up decent numbers while playing almost 35 MPG on a team that went 2-9 with him in the starting lineup? Congrats!
Don’t you want a homer? Zabel annoyed me because I hate Iowa but I would understand Iowa likes him.
The fish on the other hand is just plain BAD at his job. On of my favorite games is listening to Iowa football on the radio. You never know what is going on. Does Iowa have the ball? No idea. Where is thd ball? Not a clue. Was that play good for Iowa? Your guess is as good as mine.
And Prohm had 2 full cycles to correct it but had to settle for guys like Beverly, Brase, Bowie and Holden.
By that logic every player on Iowa's roster is pretty bad
random thoughts
1) No sane ISU mbb fan would ever trade our program for Iowas'. Never
2) Many (white) iowa high schoolers were brainwashed as Hawkeyes as youths. Fran hardly recruited Woodbury, Gesell (practically an Iowan), Weiskamp, JaBo... They begged to come to Iowa. Fran spent about $10 in gas and postcards recruiting all those guys
3) I hope Iowa keeps Fran and Ferentz forever. Hell, Ferentz just broke the .500 barrier in 2017 vs Iowa State fb, after 20 years. congrats Mr $4.5 Mil/yr coach. Impressive.
4) Iowa hasn't won an OUTRIGHT conference regular season mbb title in FORTY-EIGHT FREAKING YEARS. That is 1970 for you Hawkeye trolls. And there is no sign that it will end any time soon....or in our lifetime
Hard to argue with that.
I wish you would show the same objectivity towards ISU but that is a lot to ask.
