Graham Couch: Iowa Basketball is a mid-major roster

I see we finished 3 spots behind in Sagarin.

Atta boy Fran, that extra 300 RPI tomato can was worth it's weight in gold!

Yep, sux.

Weren't you guys 3-19 or something? Wonder what UNI's record was....just a horrible year of basketball in the state of Iowa.

ISU at least beat a few good teams. Texas Tech, WV, and OU (NCAA tourney teams) and Boise State and Baylor (NIT teams) for example. Showed signs of life in a lot of games.

So that's 5 good wins right there that ISU had this year, and Iowa had none. And that's an ISU team that lost nearly everyone from the year before, not an Iowa team that returned nearly everyone.

So don't try to equate what ISU did this year to what Iowa did. Iowa played in an awful conference too. 4 teams out of 14 in the NCAA tourney? And Iowa still couldn't get any wins? What ISU and Iowa did this season is not even comparable. ISU had a better season, and has much more to look forward to.

This thread is painful. There are 100 college basketball teams in either the NCAA or NIT. Neither the Cyclones and Hawkeyes could make either. Yet we have 1500 posts arguing over who was worse.

Face it, the Cyclones had a bad year. The Hawkeyes were worse. Does it really matter how much worse? And why am I reading the posts?

Both season were horrible. Iowa's was a notch worse but ISU's was still horrible. 0.500 is a bad season. 13-18 is horrible.

Uh yeah, nice try at pulling us into your pit of misery but no thanks. UNI and ISU were down, Drake had a nice season. But ToE redefined futility and wreaks of a busted program.

We saw some bad basketball with ISU this season but also some very good basketball. The closest the hoks got to good basketball was watching sports center.

Don't worry, it will get better, someday, maybe, in a few years. Ah, who am I kidding, you're screwed.

Iowa was also down by 20 within the first 10 minutes of every game I watched. At least we kept it competitive many times, especially in the first half.

It was just a pretty rough season for both Iowa and ISU. No other way to paint it in my opinion. Both teams had several games where they just didn't show up. Both teams had games that they were in and couldn't finish. I like ISU next year a lot better than Iowa, simply because a lot of ISUs issues this year were related to injuries and inexperience, while Iowa's issues were related to just not being athletic enough to play any semblance of defense, even against bad teams. Doubting there are a lot of shut down defenders coming to Iowa next year.
