In all fairness - some boomers tend to lecture on "lack of planning", "living beyond your means", etc..Have they gotten to the all boomers must die posts yet?
Pretty much the same things I told my GenXers, and my parents told me. I didn't even think about it until I started at ISU (I was 29), and they literally FORCED me to save for retirement. And in all honesty, I never maxed my contribution.
If it wasn't for me being a really cheap, no frills person (I don't buy a lot of "toys" or shoes or fancy clothes) and PapaLew moving my TIAA/CREF around to different stocks, bonds, real estate, etc, over the last 20+ years, we wouldn't be in the financial shape we're in. I'm not going to ***** at someone in their 20s about not having a retirement package going if I was the same way at that age. I might suggest looking into it, but I'm not going to call them stupid.
Wait, is this your attend sporting events female that your wife sets you up with? So is your wife going or is it you and the kids and the sports female? If the kids weren't going this has the makings of an adult feature film or at least one of @jcyclonee key parties.

The only people I'll diss is those who have a company supported 401k and don't put anything into it and miss their company match. I didn't get an option for a 401k until I was maybe 40. Before that it was regular savings and ROTH.
Before 30 I was so underpaid or underemployed I didn't have much of anything for true savings of any kind. Ah, flashback to the ****** apartment complex I lived in with CWW#1 and my old rusted and bondo patched Nova parked out front.

I know Hopp is just teasing, but I'm surprised at the vitrole people will have towards older people on the internets, luckily it doesn't seem to spill over to real life to often. When your in your 20- early 30s you think you'll never get old and are bullet proof. Then once you get into your late 40's on up you wonder where the time went and life isn't as easy as in your 20's. Better than the alternative though.
